Armored knight kneels by a glowing cross in a stormy mountain field, lightning splitting dark clouds, somber and dramatic.
When you accepted Jesus, your spiritual birth changed and your old identity was completely replaced by a new, supernatural one.

There is something extraordinary about who you are, and chances are you have not fully grasped it yet. You are not who you used to be. You are not defined by where you came from, what your family carried, or what the world has spoken over you. The moment you said yes to Jesus, something happened at the deepest level of your being. Your birth changed. Your identity changed. And today's reflection is going to show you exactly what that means and why it changes everything.

Samson and Jesus: A Mirror of Your Story

To understand your identity, it helps to look at the life of Samson and how it mirrors the life of Jesus. Both Samson and Jesus had their births announced by angels. In Judges 13, the angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah and his wife, declaring that a deliverer would be born. That same language, the angel of the Lord, is significant. In Scripture, whenever the Bible specifically says the angel of the Lord, it is referring to Jesus Himself. So even the announcement of Samson's birth carried a fingerprint of Christ.

And just as Samson was set apart from the womb, dedicated to God's mission before he even took his first breath:

"For behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite dedicated to God from birth, and he shall begin to rescue Israel from the hands of the Philistines." Judges 13:5

So too was Jesus set apart from before time began:

"Then the angel replied to her, the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you like a cloud. For that reason, the holy, pure, sinless child shall be called the Son of God." Luke 1:35

Both were consecrated for a divine mission before they entered the world. And here is where it gets personal for you: you have been set apart too.

Your Birth Has Changed

When you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, something shifted that goes far deeper than a religious decision. Your very birth changed. The Bible is not using poetic language when it says you are born again. It means exactly that. You have been born a second time, and this time, from an imperishable, incorruptible source.

"For you have been born again not of a perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." 1 Peter 1:23

Your earthly parents gave you a perishable seed. That was your natural birth. But that identity is no longer the defining one. Now you have been born of the living, everlasting Word of God. That means you are consecrated. You are made holy, made righteous, spiritually transformed, and set apart for God's purpose.

"But to as many as did receive and welcome him, he gave the right, the authority, the privilege to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in, trust in, and rely on his name." John 1:12

You have been given the right. Not just the invitation, but the actual authority and privilege to be called a child of God. And your new birth has nothing to do with human lineage or natural processes:

"Who are born not of blood, natural conception, nor of the will of the flesh, physical impulses, nor of the will of man, that of a natural father, but of God, that is, a divine and supernatural birth. They are born of God, spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified." John 1:13

Your old identity was not just updated. It was completely replaced by something supernatural.

United With the Resurrection

This new birth is not only about leaving the old behind. It is about being joined to something breathtakingly powerful. When Jesus died on the cross, you died with Him. And when He rose from the dead, you rose with Him. This is not symbolic language. This is spiritual reality.

"We have therefore been buried with him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life, abounding in our old ways. If we have become one with him, permanently united in the likeness of his death, we will also certainly be one with him and share fully in the likeness of his resurrection." Romans 6:4,5

You are permanently united with the resurrection power of Jesus. That means the supernatural is not something you strive toward. It is your origin. It is your nature. You carry inherited sickness no longer because you are no longer born only of a corruptible bloodline. You carry the heritage of heaven now. You have the mind of Christ. You have been freed from the slavery of sin and connected to the righteousness of God.

The supernatural is not your destination. It is your identity.

You Are Like Jesus in This World

This is not an overstatement. The Word of God confirms it directly:

"By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world." 1 John 4:17

As He is, so are you, right now, in this world. Not just one day in heaven. Right now. In your workplace. In your family. In your circumstances. You carry the same supernatural birth, the same consecration, the same connection to the resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead.

Conclusion

You are not ordinary. You never were, not since the moment you were born again. Your DNA has changed. The old self was crucified and buried, and a new, supernatural you stepped out of that tomb with Jesus. You are born of incorruptible seed. You are united with resurrection power. And you will begin to see supernatural things become your natural reality because that is simply who you are in Christ. Walk in it today.

Reflect on This

  1. In what areas of your life have you still been living from your old, natural identity rather than your new, supernatural one?

  2. How does understanding that you are permanently united with the resurrection power of Jesus change the way you approach your daily challenges?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that I am born again of incorruptible, imperishable seed. I declare that my old identity is gone and the new has come. I am Your child, set apart from birth, consecrated for Your purpose, and united with the resurrection power of Jesus. I am not enslaved to sin, to sickness, or to the limitations of my natural heritage. I walk in the supernatural because that is who I am in You. Every blindfold the enemy has placed over my eyes is removed today, and I see clearly the supernatural life You have called me to live. In Jesus Name, Amen.
