There is something that God has placed in your hands that you may not fully realize you are carrying. You have been given authority. Not a little. Not a portion. Real, delegated, heaven-backed authority over the enemy, over sickness, over every dark thing that tries to set up camp in your life and family. The question today is not whether you have it. The question is whether you know it, and whether you are using it.
God's Part and Your Part
Here is a truth that will shift the way you see your walk with God: there is a part that belongs to God, and there is a part that belongs to you. God is the Almighty. He created the heavens and the earth. He upholds the entire universe by the word of His power. Look at what Hebrews says about Jesus:
"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word." Hebrews 1:3
Every galaxy, every atom, every breath you take right now is held together by His word. That word never fails. Psalm makes this clear:
"I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered." Psalm 89:34
God cannot go back on what He has said. And what has He said about you? He has said that He has given you authority. Now, here is what many people miss: when God tells you to resist the devil, He is not coming to resist the devil for you. He has placed that work in your hands. When He said in James,
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you," James 4:7
the command to resist belongs to you. God did His part. Now you have a part.
You cannot fast enough, pray enough, or beg God to do what He has already assigned to you.
The Lame Man and the Beautiful Gate
Look at what happened in Acts 3. Peter and John were walking to the temple, and there was a man lame from birth, sitting at the Beautiful Gate, asking for money. When Peter looked at him, he did not pray and ask God to heal him. He said:
"Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." Acts 3:6
Peter took him by the right hand, lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened. This man who had never walked a day in his life began to walk, and then leap, and then praise God.
Now, notice what Peter said. He said, "What I have, I give you." Peter knew what he was carrying. He was carrying authority. He knew that the one who raised Christ from the dead lived inside him, and that this was not a small thing. He did not say, "God, if it is Your will, please heal this man." He spoke in the name of Jesus and acted.
The power that raised a dead Christ from the grave, against all the opposition of the enemy, is greater than the power that created the universe. When God created the heavens and earth, there was no resistance. But when He raised Jesus from the dead, the enemy was actively working to hold death in place. And still, resurrection won. That very power lives inside every believer today.
"He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." 1 John 4:4
Authority Given to Every Believer
This was not only for Peter and John. Look at Luke:
"When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick." Luke 9:1-2
Sickness is not excluded. No disease is listed as an exception. He gave authority over all demons and to heal every sickness. And in Matthew, He gives them a command:
"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give." Matthew 10:8
These are not suggestions. These are commands. And in Mark, He extends this to every believer:
"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Mark 16:17-18
You are a believer. These signs follow you. They follow your steps as you walk in faith. The signs do not ask you to go find them. They come after you.
You Are Not Ordinary
1 Corinthians says:
"But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit." 1 Corinthians 6:17
You are not just a regular person doing your best. You are joined to Christ in spirit. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is at work inside you right now. This is why you can lay hands on the sick and see them recover. This is why you can speak to a situation in the name of Jesus and see it change. Not because of who you are in the flesh, but because of who lives inside you.
John G. Lake, the American missionary and healing evangelist, was caring for the sick and burying the dead during a plague outbreak, without contracting the disease himself. When British doctors asked how he remained immune, he told them it was the law of the Spirit of life that protected him. The doctors then placed live plague germs, taken from the lungs of a victim, directly onto his hand, and watched through a microscope as the germs died instantly upon contact with his skin. Lake was not operating from his own immunity or natural strength. He knew what he carried. He knew that the Spirit of the living God dwelt inside him, and that the power which raised Christ from the dead was greater than any plague the enemy could send. That is the only difference between him and someone who shrinks back. Knowing what you carry.
Conclusion
God has done everything on His side. At the cross, Jesus completed the work. He purchased your healing, your freedom, your authority. Now He has passed the responsibility to you. You are not waiting for revival to fall. You are not waiting for someone else to carry the authority you already possess. Today, stand up as one who knows what they are carrying, declare what Jesus has already paid for, and move in the power that raised Him from the dead.
Reflect on This
Have you been asking God to do things He has already delegated to you through the authority He gave every believer? What would change if you started acting on that authority instead of only asking?
Peter said, "What I have, I give you." What do you know you are carrying today that you have been hesitant to use? What is holding you back from acting in that authority?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that You have given me authority in the name of Jesus Christ. I declare that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives and works inside me right now. I am not ordinary. I am joined to You in spirit, and every blessing and every authority in Christ belongs to me. I receive it today. I will not shrink back. I will resist the enemy, stand in the authority You have given me, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Key Takeaways
God has a part and you have a part. He has completed His side. Your part is to act on the authority He has given you.
The authority Jesus gave His disciples extended to all demons and every sickness, with no exceptions.
The power that raised Christ from the dead, which overcame the enemy's resistance, lives inside every believer today.
Signs and miracles follow the believer as they walk in faith, they do not need to be chased.
True humility is not refusing to use the authority God gave you. It is receiving His Word and acting on it.
