Why God's Goodness Will Chase You Down

August 26, 2026

There is something powerful that happens the moment you truly understand that the enemy's head has already been crushed. It changes the way you pray. It changes the way you speak. It changes the way you face sickness, lack, fear, and every accusation that comes against your family. You stop being a victim of the serpent's lies and start being exactly what God always called you to be, someone who tramples the enemy under their feet. That is where we pick up today, and it is a truth that will set your heart completely free.
The Accuser Cannot Go Where He Once Went
In the Old Testament, there is a striking scene in the book of Job. Satan actually went before God in heaven and accused Job directly. He stood in the courts of heaven and said, in essence, "Job only serves You because You have blessed him. Take away the blessing and he will curse You to Your face."
That was a time before Calvary. The serpent's head had not yet been crushed. The accuser still had access to stand before God and point his finger at God's people.
But everything changed at the cross.
"And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, 'Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.'" Revelation 12:10
The accuser has been thrown down. He no longer has the standing he once had. And the weapon that sealed his defeat?
"And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death." Revelation 12:11
The blood of Jesus and the word of your testimony. This is not just theology. This is your daily ammunition. Every time the enemy comes with a report, a diagnosis, a memory of a past failure, or a whisper that God does not care, you have the authority to respond with the blood of the Lamb and with what God has declared over your life.
The cross did not just save you from sin. It threw down every voice that dares to accuse you.
You Will Trample the Serpent Under Your Feet
Here is something that should stir faith deep within you. The Bible does not just say that Jesus trampled the enemy. It says that you will trample it too.
"You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot." Psalm 91:13
That is a promise for you. For your children. For your family. Because the head of the serpent is crushed, every time it tries to spit venom in your direction, you have the authority to put it under your feet. The lie that God is withholding from you? Under your feet. The accusation that your past disqualifies you? Under your feet. The report that says sickness has the final word? Under your feet.
This is not arrogance. This is simply agreeing with what God has already done. Jesus crushed the head, and He has given you the authority to walk in that victory every single day.
God Is Absolutely For You
One of the most important things you need to settle in your heart today is this simple, unshakable truth. God is for you. Not against you. Not hiding from you. Not waiting for you to earn His favor. He is completely, entirely, and passionately for you.
"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31
When the enemy whispers that something is lacking in your life, you have a ready answer.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." Psalm 23:1
The Lord is your shepherd. You shall not lack anything. That is not a wish. That is a declaration of what is already true. And it does not stop there.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6
Goodness and mercy are following you. Not sometimes. Not when you deserve it. All the days of your life. The goodness of God is your inheritance. You do not have to chase it down. It is chasing you.
You were not born again to beg for God's goodness. You were born again to walk in it.
You Are Sheltered in the Most High
There is a beautiful passage that captures exactly what it looks like to live under the protection of God when the accuser has been thrown down. It paints a picture of total security, for you and for everyone you love.
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty." Psalm 91:1
"He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence." Psalm 91:3
"A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you." Psalm 91:7
"No evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent." Psalm 91:10
"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." Psalm 91:11
When you make God your dwelling place, when you truly make Him your refuge and your home, you are covered. Your family is covered. The accuser can come with a diagnosis, a financial threat, a broken relationship, and all the fear it carries, but it cannot penetrate the shelter of the Most High. And remember, in Job's day the accuser still had access to heaven. But now, the accuser has been thrown down. That means your hedge of protection is even stronger today than Job's ever was.
Declaring the Goodness of God in Every Season
You may be walking through a difficult season right now. Maybe a doctor's report has come with frightening words. Maybe your finances are shaken. Maybe your family is in turmoil. The enemy wants you to look at those circumstances and conclude that God is failing you.
But this is exactly the moment to raise your voice and declare what is true.
"I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!" Psalm 27:13
Not in the afterlife. In the land of the living. Right here. Right now. You will see God's goodness with your own eyes. You will see healing. You will see restoration. You will see the power of God made manifest in your circumstances. The same resurrection power that crushed the serpent's head is at work in your life today.
This is a new season. The deceptions you have believed are being uprooted. The accusations that have followed you are being silenced. You are not the tail. You are the head. You are not under the enemy's foot. He is under yours. You are more than a conqueror, not because of what you have achieved, but because of who lives in you and what He has already accomplished.
Every report the enemy hands you, Jesus already signed a different one at Calvary.
Today, choose to live in the fullness of that truth. You are covered by the blood of the Lamb. You are declared righteous by His testimony. You are sheltered in the Most High. Goodness and mercy are following you. The accuser has been thrown down. And you, along with your children and your family, will see the goodness of God in the land of the living.
Conclusion
The enemy's head has already been crushed, and the accuser who once stood before God pointing his finger at you has been thrown down for good. That means every fear, every accusation, every frightening report you are facing today has already been overruled by what Jesus finished at Calvary. You are not waiting for victory, you are standing in it. God's goodness is not something you have to search for or earn, it is following you all the days of your life, actively pursuing you and your family through every season. So take your place today, not as a victim of the serpent's lies but as someone who tramples them underfoot. Declare the word of your testimony, hold fast to the blood of the Lamb, and lift your eyes in expectation, because you will see the goodness of God in the land of the living, not someday, but now.
Reflect on This
In what area of your life have you been listening more to the accuser's report than to God's declaration, and what specific scripture can you use to silence that voice today?
What does it mean to you personally that you are no longer just protected like Job was, but that the accuser himself has been thrown down and can no longer stand before God to accuse you?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that Jesus crushed the head of the enemy at Calvary and that the accuser has been thrown down. I declare that no evil shall befall me, no plague shall come near my home, and no report from the enemy carries authority over my life. You are my shepherd and I shall not lack anything. Your goodness and mercy are following me all the days of my life. I receive Your healing, Your protection, Your restoration, and Your abundance right now. I walk in victory by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of my testimony. I will see Your goodness in the land of the living. In Jesus Name, Amen.
