Water Into Wine: What the Enemy Gets Is Different

September 18, 2026

There is a breathtaking contrast hidden in Scripture that has the power to completely shift the way you see your life. For Pharaoh and the Egyptians, the water turned into blood. It became something they could not drink, something that brought death to their fish, something that made their land groan. But when Jesus performed His very first miracle, He turned water into wine at a wedding feast. The same element, water, but two completely different outcomes. What the enemy receives is not what God's people receive. And today, that truth is meant to strengthen your heart.
Two Sides of the Same Power
The blood of Jesus is like a two-edged sword. On one side, it is a weapon of destruction against the works of darkness. On the other side, it is a shield of protection, blessing, and life for those who trust in Christ. The cross was not a defeat. It was the moment Satan's power was broken once and for all, and the victory was handed to every person who believes.
When Moses and Aaron stretched out the staff over the waters of Egypt, every single body of water turned to blood. Rivers, canals, ponds, pools, and even the vessels of wood and stone were all covered. As we explored, those wooden and stone vessels represented idols, the works of the enemy. Not one stronghold was left untouched. The blood covered it all, bringing destruction to the kingdom of Pharaoh.
"Thus says the Lord, by this you shall know and recognize and acknowledge that I am the Lord. Look, with the staff in my hand, I will strike the water in the Nile and it shall be turned to blood." Exodus 7:17
But for God's people, the story reads differently. Jesus took ordinary water at a wedding and transformed it into the finest wine. That wine is the same wine we remember at communion, the cup that represents the blood Jesus shed for us on the cross.
"This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you." Luke 22:20
What brings death to the enemy brings life to you. The same blood that destroys darkness is the blood that covers and blesses God's people.
The Communion Table Is Your Declaration
Every time you partake of communion, you are not just going through a religious ritual. You are declaring the covenant. You are declaring that the blood of Jesus speaks over your life. You are drawing a line in the spiritual realm and saying that you belong to the Lord and everything that belongs to you is under His protection.
The wine at the table is a reminder that Jesus took what was ordinary and made it extraordinary. He took broken lives and made them whole. He took what was cursed and brought it under blessing. He took what the enemy had stolen and began the process of restoration.
"He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound." Isaiah 61:1
When you receive communion with faith, you are not just remembering what Jesus did. You are proclaiming that what He did is still working right now in your life, in your family, in your health, and in every circumstance you are believing God for.
Communion is not just a memory. It is a declaration that the blood of Jesus is actively working in your life today.
You Are Not an Ordinary Person
Here is something you need to carry with you wherever you go. You are not an ordinary person. You were made in the image and likeness of God. You are a covenant person. You are an ambassador of the Most High. When you walk into a room, you do not walk in as someone defeated or forgotten. You walk in as someone who has been chosen, anointed, and covered by the blood of the Lamb.
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9
Think about what this means practically. Whatever you touch this week carries the anointing of someone in covenant with God. Whatever you put your hands to is blessed because you carry the covenant. The enemy does not get to define your story. The season of delay is over. The waiting has ended. Because you have come to Jesus and trusted in His finished work, things must change.
You are not an ordinary person. You are a covenant child of God, and whatever you touch is destined to prosper.
Pharaoh Has Already Been Defeated
Scripture tells us that after the waters turned to blood, Pharaoh simply turned and went back into his house. He did not have a response. He did not have an answer. He retreated.
Satan, your Pharaoh, has already been defeated at the cross. He has no new strategy against a life that is covered in the blood of Jesus. When you speak the Word, when you declare His promises, when you trust in what Christ has already done, the enemy is forced to retreat just as Pharaoh did.
"Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it." Colossians 2:15
Every scheme that has been working against you, every deception the enemy has planted, every door that has been shut for too long, the blood of Jesus speaks against all of it. It penetrates your boundaries. It sets you apart. It removes what does not belong, and it opens what has been closed.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10
Pharaoh has been defeated. The enemy must retreat. Your victory has already been won through the cross.
Conclusion
The contrast is clear and it is beautiful. For the enemy, water turns to blood, a sign of destruction and defeat. For you, water turns to wine, a sign of abundance, celebration, and life. The same power that brought the enemy to his knees is the power that lifts you up. You are protected by the blood covenant. You are chosen and anointed. Whatever you touch this day, this week, this season, it is going to be a good success, because God's blood covenant over your life is unbreakable. Walk boldly. Speak boldly. And know that you are never, ever alone.
Reflect on This
In what areas of your life do you need to shift your perspective from seeing yourself as ordinary to recognizing yourself as a covenant child of God?
How can you use communion or your daily declaration of God's Word as a more intentional spiritual practice this week?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that what You have prepared for me is life, abundance, and victory. I declare that the blood of Jesus covers my family, my health, my work, and every area of my life right now. I receive Your wine, Your blessing, Your goodness, and Your restoration today. Pharaoh has been defeated in my life, and every scheme of the enemy is dismantled by the blood of Jesus. I walk boldly as a covenant child of God, knowing that everything I touch is destined to prosper for Your glory. In Jesus Name, Amen.
