The Serpent That Swallows Every Enemy Serpent

August 29, 2026

There are moments in Scripture where a single event, a single image, carries so much concentrated truth that it can completely reframe the way you see your spiritual life. Today we are looking at one of those moments. It takes place in the court of Pharaoh, it involves serpents and a staff, and it holds a revelation that is as relevant to your life right now as it was to Moses and Aaron thousands of years ago. Get ready, because this is going to stir something bold inside of you.
Aaron's Staff Before Pharaoh
When Moses and Aaron finally stood before Pharaoh, God had already prepared them. He had told them exactly what would happen and exactly what to do.
"When Pharaoh says to you, 'Prove yourselves by working a miracle,' then you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.'" Exodus 7:9
Notice something beautiful here. In Exodus chapter four, Moses had been the one who threw down his staff and watched it become a serpent. But now, standing before Pharaoh, God told Moses to instruct Aaron to throw his staff. Why Aaron? Because Aaron was the high priest, the representative of the people of Israel, the one who stood on behalf of all twelve tribes. God was making a declaration through this act. The signs and wonders are not reserved for one chosen individual. They flow through the representatives of God's people. They flow through those who believe and step forward in obedience.
Signs and wonders are not just for the specially anointed. They are for every believer who picks up the rod of God's Word.
This means that miracles are not locked behind the prayers of a particular pastor or a famous minister. God loves your prayer. God honors your declaration of His promises. He has given you His rod. He has placed His Word in your mouth. You carry the same authority Aaron carried, because you carry the same God.
The Climax: Swallowing the Serpents
What happened next is where the story reaches its extraordinary peak.
"So Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent." Exodus 7:10
Pharaoh was not immediately moved. He called in his wise men, his sorcerers, and his magicians. These men were skilled in the dark arts, and they performed their counterfeits. Every man threw down his staff, and every one of them became a serpent. For a moment, it may have looked like Aaron's miracle was no different from theirs. But then came the moment that changes everything.
"But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs." Exodus 7:12
Aaron's serpent swallowed all of Pharaoh's serpents. Every counterfeit, every work of the enemy, every lie disguised as power, was consumed by the one rod that carried the Word of God. This is not just a historical account. This is a living picture of what happens every time you open your mouth and declare the promises of God over your life. The Word of God does not merely resist the enemy's attacks. It swallows them whole.
You Are Called to Swallow, Not to Run
Think about what the serpent has represented throughout Scripture. It is the voice of deception, the carrier of poison, the instrument of accusation. The enemy used a serpent in the garden to speak lies to Adam and Eve, and through those words, poison entered humanity. But God did not leave the story there. Jesus crushed the head of the serpent. And now, as a believer, you carry authority over every serpent the enemy sends.
"You will tread on the lion and the cobra; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot." Psalm 91:13
You are not called to flee from the serpents in your life. You are called to face them, declare the Word of God, and watch as the rod of God's promise swallows them. David did not run from Goliath. He stood and faced the giant, and with Goliath's own sword, he cut off the giant's head. The very weapon the enemy meant to use against you can become the means of your victory.
"And these signs will accompany those who have believed: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover." Mark 16:17-18
These are not signs reserved for a select few believers who have reached some elite level of holiness. Jesus said these signs will accompany those who have believed. If you believe, you qualify. You are authorized to pick up serpents. You are authorized to lay hands on the sick. You are authorized to speak in new tongues and cast out demons. This is the inheritance of every child of God.
Declare and Activate
Every time you speak the Word of God, you are throwing down your rod. Every time you declare His promises over your health, your family, your finances, your future, you are releasing something in the spiritual realm. The problems you cannot see, the invisible works of darkness operating against your life, they get swallowed. The sickness that stands before you like a serpent? Speak the Word, and watch it get swallowed. The fear that whispers failure? Open your mouth, declare God's promise, and the enemy's serpent is consumed.
When you declare God's Word, you are not just speaking words. You are releasing the rod of God that swallows every work of the enemy.
This is why Paul writes about the word of faith being in your mouth and in your heart. This is why God told Moses that He would be with his mouth and with Aaron's mouth. The miracle is not only in heaven waiting to come down. It is already placed inside the Word of God, and when you release it through your spoken declaration, it manifests in your reality. Your mouth is not just for conversation. It is a miracle-releasing instrument.
You are not a victim of your circumstances. You are a victor who carries the Word of God. The serpents that surround you, whether they are sickness, fear, lack, accusation, or failure, cannot withstand the rod of God's Word spoken from your mouth in faith. You will trample them underfoot. You will swallow them in the name of Jesus. Your future is secured by the God who gave you His staff, His Word, His name, and His authority.
Conclusion
Aaron threw down one rod, and it swallowed every counterfeit in the room. That is not just history. That is a picture of what happens every time you open your mouth and declare the Word of God over your life. The serpents the enemy sends, whether sickness, fear, lack, or accusation, cannot survive in the presence of God's spoken promise. You are not called to run from them. You are called to face them, throw down your rod, and watch them get swallowed. You carry God's Word. You carry His authority. You carry His name. Every serpent that rises against you, your family, and your future has already met its match. Open your mouth and declare it.
Reflect on This
When the enemy sends a "serpent" into your life, whether it is a fearful report, a sickness, or a discouraging lie, how quickly do you reach for the rod of God's Word to declare His promises over it?
Like Aaron representing all of Israel, how might God be calling you to stand in faith and declare His Word not just for yourself but on behalf of your family or community?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that I carry Your rod, Your Word, and Your authority. I declare that every serpent the enemy has sent against my life is swallowed by the power of Your Word. No sickness, no lie, no fear, and no work of darkness can stand against me because I am filled with Your Spirit and clothed in Your promises. I tread on every serpent underfoot. I pick up every challenge in the authority of Your name. Deadly things will not harm me or my family because I am protected by Your consuming fire. I am a believer, and these signs follow me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
