A robed figure walks through a stone arch in a dark cave toward bright light, creating a calm, mysterious mood.
Your most impossible situation is not a dead end but an opportunity for God's glory to be revealed.

There are moments in life when everything around you seems to have come to a standstill. The situation looks final. The door appears permanently shut. The dream seems buried beyond recovery. But today, there is a word that rises above every hopeless circumstance, and it comes straight from the lips of Jesus Himself. No matter what you are facing right now, this truth is for you: your story is not over.

A Sickness That Would Not End in Death

In John chapter 11, we find a powerful story that speaks directly into the heart of every impossible situation. Jesus received news that His dear friend Lazarus was gravely ill. And His response was extraordinary. He did not panic. He did not rush. Instead, He made a declaration that defied the natural order of things.

"When Jesus heard this, He said, 'This sickness will not end in death, but is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.'" John 11:4

Think about what Jesus is saying here. Whatever the report says, whatever the diagnosis, whatever the circumstance, it will not have the final word. This sickness, this problem, this challenge you are going through right now is not heading toward a dead end. It is heading toward the glory of God. The table is about to be turned. Something miraculous is about to happen.

When Things Got Worse Before They Got Better

But here is where the story takes an unexpected turn. Jesus did not rush to Bethany. He stayed where He was. And while He waited, Lazarus died. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. According to Jewish belief at that time, there was still some hope within three days, but after four days, it was considered completely over. Done. Finished.

Yet Jesus said something astonishing to His disciples before they even set out.

"After saying these things, He said to them, 'Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to wake him up.'" John 11:11

Jesus did not see a dead man. He saw a man asleep, waiting to be awakened. This is how Jesus sees your situation right now. What looks finished, what looks buried, what looks completely beyond recovery, He sees as something simply waiting for His voice.

The Faith That Sees Beyond the Tomb

When Martha ran out to meet Jesus, her words were filled with grief but also with a flicker of remarkable faith.

"Martha said to Jesus, 'Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.'" John 11:21-22

Even now. Those two words carry enormous weight. Even now, with four days gone. Even now, with the mourners gathered. Even now, with the stone sealed over the tomb. Even now, she believed. And that same declaration is available to you today. Even now, whatever you ask from God, He will give it to you. When you believe that something has already been given, when you hold on to that promise with your whole heart, it will be done.

Even now, God can turn your situation around.

I Am the Resurrection and the Life

Jesus then spoke words that shifted the entire conversation. Martha had been speaking in terms of future theology, that resurrection would happen on the last day. But Jesus brought the future into the present.

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?'" John 11:25-26

Do you see what He did? Resurrection is not an event scheduled for a distant future. Resurrection is a person. It is Jesus Himself. When Jesus steps into your situation, everything changes in the present tense. Not just someday. Not just in eternity. Right now. Today. This is the God of yesterday who is the same today and forever, and He is the God of your today.

Resurrection is not a future event. It is a person, and His name is Jesus.

Wherever Jesus is present, there is present-tense deliverance. Present-tense open doors. Present-tense promotion. Present-tense healing. Anyone who believes in His name will live, will be blessed, will prosper, will be protected. Every anxiety, every depression, every hopeless report loses its grip because you have placed your trust in the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Conclusion

Today, Jesus is asking you the same question He asked Martha: Do you believe this? Do you believe that He can bring resurrection into your dead situation? You were not designed for failure, for anxiety, for lack, or for defeat. You were designed by God, knitted together for a great calling, filled with the life and image of God Himself. And because Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, the power of resurrection is available to you right now. Receive it. Believe it. The spirit of the Lord is moving into your situation even as you read these words, bringing everything back to life.

Reflect on This

  1. What "four-day-old" situation in your life have you begun to see as beyond recovery, and how does Jesus calling Himself the Resurrection challenge that belief?

  2. Martha said "even now" in the middle of her grief. What would it look like for you to declare "even now" over the most hopeless area of your life today?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that You are the Resurrection and the Life. I declare that every dead situation in my life is not beyond Your power. Even now, I believe that whatever I ask according to Your will, You give to me. I receive the resurrection power of Jesus penetrating into every area of my life, my body, my mind, my family, and my circumstances. I am not designed for defeat. I am designed to carry Your glory, Your life, and Your image. I walk today in the fullness of that truth. In Jesus Name, Amen.
