You Have Nothing? Watch God Move

September 13, 2026

There is a moment every believer eventually reaches: staring at a closed door, an empty account, or a situation with no visible way forward, and wondering if God has simply moved on to someone more prepared. If you are in that moment right now, this reflection was written for exactly that place. Scripture is full of ordinary people who had nothing to offer, and it was precisely there that heaven showed up.
Nothing in Your Hand Is Not a Disqualification
In the book of Judges, we find a remarkable moment in the life of Samson. The Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and he tore a lion apart with his bare hands as easily as one would handle a young goat.
"The Spirit of the Lord came upon him mightily, so that he tore the lion apart as one tears a young goat though he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done." Judges 14:6
Notice the detail the Scripture highlights: he had nothing in his hand. No weapon. No tool. No advantage. And yet, the impossible happened. This is the Holy Spirit at work.
So many of us are waiting to have the right resources, the right connections, the right medical report, or the right circumstances before we believe things can change. But the truth is, the battle does not belong to your resources. The battle belongs to the Lord.
Victory is not waiting for your circumstances to change. Victory has already been written in your story.
You do not need the perfect business plan before God fills your net. You do not need every door open before you step forward in faith. Remember Peter, who toiled all night and caught nothing? The moment he responded to the word of Jesus, every fish in the ocean wanted to get into his net. The creation started working for Peter the moment he aligned with the Word.
You Are Not Rejected, You Are Chosen
Here is something powerful you need to hear. You are not disqualified because your hands are empty. You are not rejected because things have not worked out the way you planned. You have been bought by the precious blood of Jesus. You are accepted, chosen, and sealed.
When you walk in the understanding that you are healed, you are chosen, you are blessed, every door begins to open. The Holy Spirit who rushed upon Samson and enabled him to do what seemed humanly impossible is the same Holy Spirit who lives inside you right now.
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?" 1 Corinthians 6:19
You do not need to invite the Holy Spirit to come into your life every single day as though He has left. When you accepted Jesus, He came to dwell in you and He never leaves. He never forsakes you. What you do need is to allow Him to operate. You need to be influenced by the Spirit, not by your old flesh nature.
The Holy Spirit is not absent from your life. The question is whether you are allowing Him to lead.
We were originally designed to operate in the supernatural. Sin broke that design. But now, born again in Christ, you can return to the original design and show the world what a life fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit looks like.
The Promise Spoken Over Rebecca
Now, let us turn to one of the most beautiful blessings in Scripture. In Genesis 24, when Rebecca was sent off to become Isaac's wife, her family spoke over her with a declaration that is extraordinary:
"They blessed Rebekah and said to her, 'May you, our sister, become thousands of ten thousands, and may your descendants possess the gate of those who hate them.'" Genesis 24:60
Thousands of ten thousands. That is the kind of multiplication God intends for His people. But here is what is fascinating: why was this blessing spoken over Rebecca specifically? What was the secret behind her receiving such a promise?
To understand that, we need to go back to the beginning of this chapter. Abraham had sent his servant, traditionally believed to be Eliezer, to find a wife for his son Isaac. The servant made a very specific prayer at the well:
"Now may it be that the girl to whom I say, 'Please let down your jar so that I may drink,' and who answers, 'Drink, and I will also water your camels,' may she be the one whom You have selected and appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to my master." Genesis 24:14
Did you catch that? The servant's prayer was not simply about finding a girl willing to work hard. It was specifically about what she would say. He said, "who shall say to me." Not just who shall do, but who shall say.
Conclusion
Rebecca was not chosen because she had impressive credentials or a remarkable resume. She was chosen because of what she said. She spoke words of generosity, availability, and service, and that alignment with God's design opened the door to one of the greatest blessings recorded in Scripture. Thousands of ten thousands. The gate of her enemies given to her descendants. All of it flowed from a moment where she simply showed up and spoke.
You may feel like your hands are empty right now. You may feel like the circumstances around you are telling a story of lack, of delay, of closed doors. But look again at what Scripture shows you. Samson had nothing in his hand and tore apart a lion. Peter had nothing in his net after a full night of labour and then pulled in a catch that nearly broke his boat. The servant prayed a specific prayer at a well and found the exact woman God had already appointed.
God is not waiting for your resources to line up. He is not waiting for your conditions to be perfect. He is waiting for you to align with His Word, to open your mouth, to step forward in faith, and to allow the Holy Spirit who lives inside you to do what only He can do.
You are not behind. You are not forgotten. You are not disqualified. You are right in the middle of a setup that only God could orchestrate. The Spirit of the Lord is upon you, and that changes the calculation entirely. Now let Him move.
Reflect on This
In what area of your life have you been waiting to "have enough" before trusting God to move?
How does knowing that the Holy Spirit permanently lives in you change the way you approach your daily challenges?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that I am not disqualified. I declare that the same Spirit who empowered Samson and filled Peter's net lives in me right now. I am chosen, accepted, healed, and anointed. I walk in the fullness of what You have already secured for me. Your Spirit is moving in every area of my life, and I receive every promise You have written over my story. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Key Takeaways
Having nothing in your hand does not disqualify you from receiving God's breakthrough.
The Holy Spirit who empowered Samson and Peter lives permanently inside every believer.
God is not looking for your resources or abilities; He is looking for your availability.
You are chosen, accepted, and sealed by the blood of Jesus regardless of your circumstances.
