The God-kind of life that was lost through sin has been fully restored through Jesus Christ, the last Adam.

Have you ever stopped to wonder what it truly means to be alive? Not just the beating of your heart or the rhythm of your breathing, but the deep, divine life that God Himself placed inside of you? Today, we are stepping into one of the most breathtaking truths in all of Scripture. God did not just create you. He kissed life into you. And that life is far greater than you may have ever imagined.

Formed from Dust, Breathed Into by God

Let us begin at the very beginning. In the book of Genesis, we find a remarkable account of how humanity came to be.

"Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." Genesis 2:7

Think about that for a moment. God did not simply speak Adam into existence the way He spoke light or land into being. He leaned close, He formed him with intention, and He breathed directly into him. That was a divine kiss of life. The very breath of the Almighty entered Adam, and in that moment, a living, thinking, ruling, God-reflecting being stood on the earth.

And here is something that should stir your heart deeply. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy that the same breath is embedded in Scripture itself.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for instruction, for conviction of sin, for correction of error and restoration to obedience, and for training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16

Every time you open your Bible and read its words, you are encountering the very breath of God. That is why sometimes when you focus on a verse, something shifts inside of you. Something rises up. Something in your spirit responds. It is God's breath meeting the breath He already placed within you.

More Than Dust: The Vital Force Within You

You are not just a body made of dust. You carry something extraordinary. The book of Job makes this beautifully clear.

"But there is a vital force and a spirit of intelligence in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding." Job 32:8

When God breathed life into Adam, He breathed in fullness. He breathed wisdom, authority, intelligence, and power. Adam was not just a human being in the ordinary sense. He was a carrier of the God-kind of life, made to reflect and represent God on the earth. Think of life not as just breathing in and out, but as a complete package of everything God is: His wisdom, His power, His authority, His very nature. All of that was packaged into the breath that God placed inside of man.

"The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 33:4

You were made by the Spirit of God. You were not just assembled from biological material. The Almighty breathed His very substance into you.

What Was Lost and Why Jesus Came

But something happened. When sin entered the Garden of Eden, that God-kind of life was lost. Humanity went from carrying the fullness of God's nature to living in the likeness of fallen, corrupted dust. And that is the real reason Jesus came to this earth.

But something happened. When sin entered the Garden of Eden, the God-kind of life was lost. It was taken back, and humanity began living in the likeness of the man of dust, without the Spirit of the living God. That is exactly why Jesus came.

"So it is written in Scripture: The first man Adam became a living soul and individual. The last Adam, Christ, became a life-giving Spirit, restoring the dead to life." 1 Corinthians 15:45

Look closely at the two Adams. The first Adam became a living being, an individual personality, because of the breath of God placed in him. The last Adam, Jesus Christ, became a life-giving Spirit. What was lost in the garden, He came to give back.

"As is the earthly man, the man of dust, so are those who are of earth, and as is the heavenly man, so are those who are of heaven." 1 Corinthians 15:48

The first man was made from dust. The second was sent from heaven, and through Him comes a whole race of heavenly people who are like Him.

"Just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, we will also bear the image of the heavenly man." 1 Corinthians 15:49

So who is the man of heaven? Jesus Christ. You no longer carry the likeness of the man of dust, because that likeness was corrupted. God has given His kind of life through Jesus, and He came to give it back to you.

You were not made to live like the man of dust. You were made to carry the image of the man of heaven.

The God-Kind of Life Is Already Yours

Many times, when we talk about the gospel, we focus on sin. That is good, and it is true that Jesus died for our sin. But look at what He came to give.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

He came to give eternal life, and that life has started now. It is the God-kind of life, and it cannot be corrupted. You are not born of blood and flesh but of the Spirit, so this life cannot be taken out of you the way it was taken from Adam. It is forever.

"So that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life after physical death and will actually live forever." John 3:15
"He who believes and trusts in the Son and accepts Him as Savior has eternal life, that is, he already possesses it. But he who does not believe the Son and chooses to reject Him, disobeying Him and denying Him as Savior, will not see eternal life." John 3:36

So what do you possess right now when you believe in Jesus? Eternal life. Many of us were taught to wait until we die to receive it, but that is not what the Bible teaches. Eternal life is now.

Eternal life is not your destination. It is your present possession.

Conclusion

You were created with purpose and breathed into with the very life of God. Sin tried to take that away, but Jesus came as the life-giving Spirit to restore everything that was lost. The God-kind of life, full of wisdom, power, authority, and divine nature, has been imparted back to you through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This is the heart of the Gospel. Not just that your sins are forgiven, but that you have been given life, real life, the kind that cannot be corrupted or taken away. Walk today knowing that you carry something extraordinary.

Reflect on This

  1. How does understanding that God personally breathed His life into you change the way you see yourself and your daily circumstances?

  2. In what areas of your life have you been waiting for eternal life to begin someday, rather than drawing on it as a present reality?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that You breathed Your very life into me and that through Jesus Christ, that God-kind of life has been fully restored in me. I declare that I carry Your wisdom, Your power, and Your authority. I am not living as the man of dust but as one who bears the image of the man of heaven. The eternal life You promised is not future. It is mine right now. I walk in that life today, and I declare that every dead thing in my circumstances must respond to the life of God within me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
