Say It Out Loud and Watch Dead Things Rise

October 29, 2026

There is something extraordinary about the moment Jesus stood before a sealed tomb and simply spoke. No elaborate ritual. No lengthy petition. Just a voice filled with authority calling out a name. And a dead man walked out. That same resurrection power is available to you today. Whatever has died in your life, whatever has gone cold, whatever has been buried and seemingly forgotten, God is calling it out. This is your moment to stand in faith and declare that the dead things in your life must come alive.
The Power of a Thankful Heart
Before Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb, He did something that most people overlook. He prayed a prayer of thanksgiving. In John chapter 11, verses 41 and 42, He looked up and said:
"Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me." John 11:41-42
Notice that Jesus did not begin by begging. He began by thanking. And that thanksgiving was not after the miracle. It was before Lazarus even moved. This is one of the most powerful and unchanging principles in Scripture: a thankful heart unlocks what a complaining heart closes.
Think about it practically. If you are believing God for a bigger home, thank Him for the roof over your head right now. If you are trusting God for healing, thank Him for every organ in your body that is functioning today. If you are praying for financial breakthrough, thank God for the little you already have. This is exactly what Jesus did when a young boy brought five loaves of bread and two fish. Before any multiplication happened, Jesus gave thanks. And that is precisely where the miracle began.
Your multiplication is in your mouth, and it starts with thanksgiving.
Grumpiness, ingratitude, and a spirit of complaint do not just make life unpleasant. They actually delay the supernatural. It is not that God is unwilling to move. It is that we put up a barrier through our own unthankfulness. But when you shift into gratitude, you unlock your future. The supernatural begins to work. A new beginning opens up.
Come Out, Lazarus
After Jesus gave thanks, the Bible says in John 11:43:
"When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come out!'" John 11:43
And in verse 44:
"The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, 'Take off the grave clothes and let him go.'" John 11:44
He came out. Just like that. And today, you can do the same. You can call out your Lazarus. Whatever is dead in your life, it has to come out. Healing, cometh. Provision, cometh. Peace, cometh. Open doors, cometh. With a thankful and bold heart, you can command your blessing in the name of Jesus.
And what is so beautiful about the resurrection power of Jesus is that it does not discriminate based on age or how long someone has been gone. He raised Jairus' daughter, a twelve-year-old girl, as we read in Mark chapter 5. He simply took her by the hand and commanded her to get up:
"He took her by the hand and said to her, 'Talitha koum!' (which means 'Little girl, I say to you, get up!')." Mark 5:41
In Luke chapter 7, He encountered a grieving widow in the middle of a funeral procession. Her only son, her sole source of hope and provision, had died. Jesus was moved with compassion, touched the coffin, and commanded:
"Young man, I say to you, get up!" Luke 7:14
Instantly, life returned. It does not matter what age it happened. It does not matter how long the situation has been dead. It does not matter whether it has been one day, four days, or forty years. When Jesus shows up and speaks, death has no choice but to surrender.
Jesus never attended a funeral without turning it into a celebration.
You Are Called to Do This Too
Here is where things get deeply personal. Jesus did not just perform these miracles to impress. He commissioned His followers to do the same. Look at what Matthew 10:7-8 says:
"As you go, proclaim this message: 'The kingdom of heaven has come near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give." Matthew 10:7-8
This is not a suggestion. This is a mandate. Four clear commands: heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. This mandate applies to every believer. You are a son or daughter of the living God, and you carry this authority.
And if that sounds too bold, listen to what Jesus Himself declared in John 14:12:
"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." John 14:12
He said, "Very truly." He emphasized it because He knew it would stretch the natural mind. But this is your true identity. Because He went to the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit. And the empowerment of the Spirit enables you to walk in the God kind of life. A life that penetrates body, mind, and soul. A life that produces greater works in Jesus' name.
The Holy Spirit did not come to make you feel good. He came to make you powerful.
Conclusion
You are not a bystander in God's story. You are a carrier of resurrection power. A thankful heart opens the heavens. A bold declaration commands the dead things to rise. And the Holy Spirit within you is more than enough to do what seems impossible. Whatever has been dead in your life, however long it has been buried, today is the day to open your mouth and call it out. With a grateful heart and the authority of Jesus Christ, speak to your situation. The dead must come alive.
Reflect on This
Is there an area of your life where you have been complaining instead of giving thanks, and how might shifting to gratitude unlock a breakthrough you have been waiting for?
In what specific situation do you need to boldly declare resurrection today, and what is holding you back from speaking with the authority God has already given you?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that You always hear me. I come before You with a grateful heart, and I declare that every dead thing in my life must come alive. I have received the authority of Jesus Christ, and I command breakthrough, healing, provision, and restoration to come forth now. The Holy Spirit within me is greater than any obstacle before me, and I walk in the fullness of the resurrection power of Jesus. I receive it by faith and I give You all the glory. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Key Takeaways
A heart of thanksgiving is a spiritual key that unlocks miracles and opens the door to supernatural multiplication.
Jesus commissioned every believer, not just pastors or ministers, to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out darkness.
The resurrection power of Jesus is not limited by time, age, or how impossible the situation appears.
The Holy Spirit empowers you to do even greater works than Jesus did on earth, and that is not blasphemy but your true identity in Christ.
