Man before cross
Just as the Israelites were healed by looking at the bronze serpent, we are healed by turning our eyes to Jesus and His finished work on cross.

There is something deeply reassuring about knowing that no matter where you are, no matter what condition you are in, healing and life are available to you right now. Not just to a select few, not just to those who seem to have it all together, but to everyone. That is the heart of what we are exploring today, and it is a truth so powerful that once you grasp it, it will change the way you see your circumstances forever.

The Bronze Serpent and the Promise of Life

In the book of Numbers, the Israelites found themselves in a desperate situation. Even after being brought out of Egypt, they could not seem to leave Egypt behind in their hearts. They grumbled against God and longed to go back to the very bondage they had been delivered from, and as a result, venomous snakes entered their camp and began biting the people. Many were dying. But then something remarkable happened. God gave Moses a specific instruction.

"The Lord said to Moses, 'Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.' So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived." Numbers 21:8-9

Think about what this means. The instruction was not complicated. There were no special requirements, no conditions based on how badly someone was bitten, and no exceptions for certain people. The promise was clear: everyone who looked at the bronze serpent would live. Not some. Not most. Everyone.

This is not just an ancient story. It is a picture, a foreshadowing of something far greater. Jesus Himself made this connection when He spoke to Nicodemus.

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him." John 3:14-15

Jesus was lifted up on the cross, just as that bronze serpent was lifted on a pole. And just as everyone who looked at the serpent was healed, everyone who looks to Jesus, who places their trust and faith in Him, will be saved, healed, and made whole.

Healing Is Available for All

This truth is so important that we need to let it settle deep into our hearts. Healing is not reserved for a special group. It is not given only to those who pray the most eloquently or have the most faith on their best day. The word says everyone. It does not matter what stage the illness is at. It does not matter what the doctor's report says. It does not matter how long you have been struggling. The condition is simply this: look to Jesus.

"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." Acts 10:38

Notice that word again. All. Not some. All who were harassed and oppressed by the power of the enemy were healed. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and walked in supernatural power, going about doing good and setting people free. Every scheme of the enemy, every deception, every bondage, every sickness, everything that does not reflect the image and likeness of God in your body, has already been addressed by the finished work of Jesus.

This means no cancer is bigger than the name of Jesus. No disease is stronger than His blood. No force of darkness has authority over a life surrendered to Him. Every tissue, every organ, every nerve, every bone, everything you can see and everything you cannot see in your body, is meant to reflect the glory of God.

"He was healed. He is alive. He shall live."

When those Israelites looked at the bronze serpent, something happened. Dead cells came alive. The poison lost its power. Life returned. The same thing happens when you look to Jesus and call upon His name. You cannot remain in the same situation. Something has to shift. The change begins the moment your gaze moves from the problem to the Provider.

The Danger of Staring at the Bite

Here is a powerful insight worth sitting with. When someone in the Israelite camp was bitten by a snake, they had a choice. They could stare at the wound, watch the poison spreading, focus on how bad it looked, or they could look up at the bronze serpent. If they kept their eyes on the bite, on the swelling, on the changing color of their skin, they would have died. But if they looked up, they lived.

The same principle applies to us today. There is a profound danger in fixing our eyes on our circumstances. Pain is real. Illness is real. The challenges we face are real. No one is dismissing that. But when we spend all our attention on the symptoms, on the doctor's report, on the fear of what might happen next, we are staring at the bite. And that is a place of death, not life.

"Don't look at the poison. Look at the finished work of Jesus."

The Bible tells us in Hosea 4:6 that God's people perish not because of the enemy's power, but because of a lack of knowledge. Knowledge of what Jesus has done. Knowledge that your body is the temple of the living God. Knowledge that by His stripes you were healed. Knowledge that He is your good shepherd and those who trust in Him lack nothing. Knowledge that He has prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies.

"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge." Hosea 4:6

When you know what belongs to you in Christ, you stop staring at the wound and you start looking at the Healer.

Your Healing Is in Your Gaze

God so loved this world that He gave His only Son. Think about that gift. If God was willing to give the most precious thing He had, how much more is He willing to give you healing? How much more does He want to bless you, restore you, and set you free? If the poison of a snake could do all that damage to a human body, how much more can the blood of Jesus undo every work of the enemy?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Your healing is not somewhere far off waiting for you to earn it. It is close. It is available. It is yours right now, in this moment, as you turn your eyes to Jesus. Whatever is biting you today, whether it is sickness, anxiety, fear, or something you cannot even name, you do not have to stay there. Look up. Call on His name. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive and working on your behalf.

Your Goliath is defeated. Your Jericho is defeated. The River Jordan has to give way. The Red Sea has to part. Because you carry the anointing of God and you have placed your trust in the Holy One of Israel, your situation cannot stay the same.

Conclusion

The message today is one of extraordinary hope. Just as God instructed Moses to lift up the bronze serpent so that everyone who looked at it would live, Jesus was lifted up on the cross so that everyone who believes in Him will be healed and made whole. The healing is not exclusive. It belongs to all. It does not matter what stage you are in or what condition surrounds you. All you need to do is shift your gaze from the wound to the Word, from the problem to the Promise, from the bite to the blood of Jesus. Something happens when you look to Him. Life returns, restoration begins, and the power of the enemy is broken. Your healing is not coming. In Christ, it is already done.

Reflect on This

  1. In what areas of your life have you been focusing on the "bite" rather than lifting your eyes to Jesus and His finished work?

  2. How does knowing that healing is available to everyone, with no exceptions, change the way you approach God with your needs today?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that just as Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness, Jesus was lifted on the cross for me. I declare today that healing, freedom, and life are mine through His finished work. I choose to look away from every symptom, every report, and every fear, and I fix my eyes on Jesus. I receive my healing right now. Every sickness, every bondage, every work of the enemy in my body and life is destroyed by the power of His name. I walk in wholeness, in freedom, and in the fullness of life that You promised. In Jesus Name, Amen.
