You Belong to a Kingdom That Never Loses
October 16, 2026
There is something deeply powerful about knowing where you belong. Not just your address or your nationality, but your spiritual identity, the kingdom you are part of, and the life that has been made available to you. Today, let that truth sink in deeply: you are not who you used to be. You have been transferred, transformed, and given access to a life that the world cannot offer.
The Light That Changes Everything
Jesus made a bold declaration that we must never gloss over. He said:
"As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." John 9:5
And this was not the first time He said it. Earlier in the same gospel, He had already declared:
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
Notice what He promises: not just light, but the light of life. He is not simply illuminating a dark room. He is offering the very source of life itself. And remarkably, He then turns to us and says the same thing: you are the light of the world. When Jesus is your light, you belong to the kingdom of light, and that changes absolutely everything.
Your Citizenship Has Changed
This is where it gets personal. The Apostle Paul, writing to the Colossians, describes what has happened to every believer in the most vivid terms:
"Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light." For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son." Colossians 1:12-13
You were rescued. You were transferred. Think about what it means to change citizenship. When you move from one country to another and receive a new passport, you cannot walk into your new country's embassy waving your old passport and expect the benefits of your new citizenship. Your old documents no longer define you. Your new identity does.
The same is true spiritually. You used to belong to the kingdom of darkness. But God, in His mercy, has transferred you into the kingdom of light, the kingdom of life. Yet so many of us keep reaching for the old passport. We keep relating to the old identity, the old fears, the old limitations. But God is saying today: that is not who you are anymore.
Your identity has been completely changed. Start living from your new address.
In the kingdom of life and light, there is no room for the shadows of the enemy's weapons. There is no room for defeat, for sickness, for lack as a permanent address. Because you are part of the inheritance of the saints, you are positioned to walk from glory to glory, from strength to strength, from victory to victory.
God Has Always Wanted You to Choose Life
This is not a new idea. It goes all the way back to Moses, who stood before the people of Israel and delivered one of the most direct invitations God ever gave:
"I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants." Deuteronomy 30:19
God does not leave you guessing. He sets the options before you, and then He tells you exactly which one to pick. Choose life. Choose blessing. From the very beginning of human history to this present moment, that has been God's heart for humanity. He has always been reaching toward us, trying to ensure that we choose life.
But humanity kept failing. So God sent Jesus. He came so that the life humanity lost could be fully restored. And yet, even today, many people have forgotten the real reason Jesus came. He did not come just to give us a religion or a set of rules. He came to give us life.
The Door That Leads to Everything
"I am the door. Anyone who enters through me will be saved and will live forever and will go in and out freely and find greater spiritual security." John 10:9
Jesus is the gateway. And the promise attached to entering through that gate is not just safety. It is life, freedom, and satisfaction. If your life has felt like a mess, if things have not been working the way they should, God is extending this invitation: come through me and experience life. Real life. The kind of life that fills every void.
You may have seen people who appear to have everything the world can offer, fame, wealth, success, and yet they are empty inside. That is because every human being is wired for connection with God. Without that connection, there is always a void. But through Jesus, you can experience life, freedom, satisfaction, healing, provision, peace, deliverance, and redemption.
"The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows." John 10:10
This verse is one of the most familiar in all of Scripture, and perhaps that is exactly why we miss what it is actually saying. Familiarity can cause us to hear words without receiving their full weight. Read it again slowly. Jesus came to give you life in abundance, to the full, until it overflows. Not a barely-getting-by life. Not a surviving life. An overflowing life.
God did not come to take from you. He came to give you everything you lost and more.
Conclusion
Today, let this truth anchor you: you have been transferred out of darkness and into a kingdom of light and life. God is not the one behind your pain or your loss. He is the one reaching toward you with open hands, offering you the God kind of life, a life that overflows, a life that heals, restores, and blesses. You are no longer living under the old rules. You belong to a new kingdom. Start living like it.
Reflect on This
In what areas of your life have you been living with your old passport, holding onto a past identity instead of stepping into who you truly are in Christ?
How does understanding that Jesus came specifically to give you abundant life change the way you approach your current challenges?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that You have qualified me to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. I declare that I am no longer in the kingdom of darkness. I have been transferred into the kingdom of Your beloved Son, and I walk in that truth today. I receive the abundant, overflowing life that Jesus came to give me. I choose life, I choose blessing, and I step fully into the identity You have given me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
