A man in a white robe walks through a rocky cave, illuminated by golden sunlight, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
Jesus had to become human because authority was given to a physical man and could only be legitimately reclaimed by a physical man.

If Adam's willing disobedience handed humanity's God-given authority to the enemy, then the question that follows is the most important question in all of human history: how is it taken back? The answer is the gospel. God did not simply declare a reversal from heaven or issue a command that overrode the enemy from a distance. He entered the situation personally. He put on flesh, lived fully as a man, submitted to death on a cross, and rose again. In doing so, He reclaimed everything that had been surrendered, broke the power of death, stripped the enemy of his claim, and placed restored authority back into the hands of every believer. What was lost in a garden was fully recovered on a cross.

God Had to Become a Man to Reclaim What Man Lost

The incarnation is not just a beautiful story of God coming near. It is a precise, strategic act of rescue. Authority had been given to a physical man. That physical man had surrendered it. For that authority to be legitimately reclaimed, it had to be reclaimed by a physical man. That is exactly why Jesus took on flesh.

"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil." Hebrews 2:14

Here is a picture that may help. Imagine a building where hostages are being held. Every armed force is assembled outside, fully equipped. But no one outside can move without putting the captives at risk. So one person does the extraordinary. He enters the building not as a rescuer standing apart, but as a fellow captive alongside the prisoners. From within, he defeats the captor and brings everyone out.

That is what Jesus did. He became one of us. He entered our captivity. From within death itself, He defeated the enemy, took back the keys of death and authority, and came out victorious.

All Authority Has Been Returned

Matthew is one of the most significant declarations in all of Scripture.

"Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.'" Matthew 28:18

This is Jesus standing before His disciples as the risen second Adam and declaring that everything the first Adam surrendered has been fully restored. Not some authority. Not partial authority. All authority. In heaven and on earth. And the instruction that immediately follows is just as important: go. Go and make disciples. Go and teach all nations. Go and baptize. The authority that has been restored is not for holding onto and admiring. It is for walking in.

The Enemy You Face Is Already Finished

You need to settle this in your heart today. The enemy you face is not a powerful adversary in a battle with an uncertain outcome. He is a defeated foe who lost every legal claim over those who are in Christ. He has been stripped. His teeth have been pulled. He is like a serpent that has had its venom removed.

Romans tells you plainly what your position in Christ looks like.

"For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!" Romans 5:17

You were born again to reign. Not to endure. Not to merely survive. To reign in life.

Speak the Opposite of What the Enemy Brings

Here is a practical principle the Word calls you to live out. When the enemy brings something against you, his goal is to get you to agree with what you see and feel. Your body hurts, so you speak sickness. Your finances look impossible, so you speak lack. Your family is in confusion, so you accept defeat. But that is precisely what he wants. The Word calls you to do the opposite.

Doctors once warned me that a particular dishwasher chemical would always trigger a severe allergic reaction on my skin, and that I should never touch it. Instead of accepting that verdict as permanent and unchangeable, I declared healing over my body in the name of Jesus. I acted in the opposite spirit of what the enemy was presenting. And my hand healed. Look at it now. That is the principle.

If pain is in your body, stand up in the name of Jesus and walk. If fear grips your mind, open your mouth and declare God's peace. If confusion surrounds your family, speak clarity and order in the name of Jesus. James says it plainly.

"As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead." James 2:26

When Jesus healed a blind man recorded in Mark 8:22, He did something instructive before the miracle took place. He took the man outside the village. He physically separated him from the atmosphere of unbelief before He acted. Sometimes faith requires you to move first, to step away from what is pulling you toward doubt, and to act on what you believe before you see what you are believing for.

You Were Created to Rule

This is not only about resisting the enemy. It is about understanding your identity. God did not save you just to keep you safe. He called you to reign. He gave you His Spirit, His Word, His name, and His authority. You can speak life over your family. You can stand against sickness in the name of Jesus. You can declare God's promises over every problem and watch those mountains begin to move.

The declaration you carry is this: the enemy is a loser. His authority was stripped at Calvary. My God created heaven and earth. Jesus reclaimed what I lost. I am a child of the King, an heir of God's Kingdom, a king and a priest. No weapon formed against me shall prosper.

Conclusion

Jesus became human so that what was surrendered by humanity could be reclaimed by humanity. What Adam lost through one willful act of disobedience, Jesus restored through one total act of obedience. The cross was not only about forgiveness. It was about restoration. Full restoration. Every bit of authority that Adam willingly handed over was taken back at Calvary and made available to every person who believes. You are not a victim of this world. You were created for dominion. The enemy is defeated, his claim over your life is legally nullified by the blood of Jesus, and the authority to reign in life has been fully given to you. Now open your mouth, speak the Word, and step into the life that was always meant to be yours.

Reflect on This

  1. When challenges come against your body, your finances, or your family, are you responding like someone with no authority, or like someone who has been given all authority through Christ? What would change if you genuinely acted on the truth that you are meant to reign?

  2. Jesus took the blind man outside the village, away from unbelief, before healing him. Are there voices, environments, or conversations in your life that consistently pull you toward doubt? What practical steps can you take to speak and act in faith more boldly?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that Jesus came as a man, died as a man, and rose again so that everything I lost could be fully restored. I declare today that the authority of heaven is at work in my life. I am not a prisoner of sickness, fear, or defeat. I am a child of God, a king, a priest, sealed by the blood of Jesus Christ. I speak life over my body, my family, and every situation that needs a miracle. The enemy is defeated. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. I reign in life through Jesus Christ. In His name, Amen.
