Today, we explore a powerful spiritual practice that can transform your circumstances: speaking to your mountains. This isn't about positive thinking alone, it's about exercising the divine authority given to every believer. As we delve into Scripture, you'll discover how your words, aligned with God's promises, can reshape your reality and bring forth abundance in every area of your life.
The Power of Prophetic Declaration
Throughout Scripture, we see a pattern of God instructing His people to speak to seemingly immovable obstacles. In Ezekiel 36, the prophet is commanded to address the mountains of Israel, desolate places that had been corrupted and overtaken by enemies.
Therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, to the desolate ruins and the deserted towns that have been plundered and ridiculed by the rest of the nations around you. - Ezekiel 36:4
This wasn't merely poetic language. God was establishing a principle: His people have the authority to speak transformation over situations that appear hopeless. The mountains, valleys, and desolate places represent the challenges we face financial difficulties, health concerns, broken relationships, or unfulfilled dreams.
Consider the historical context: when enemies captured territories in ancient times, they would burn cities and devastate the land, leaving nothing but desolation. Your life may sometimes feel like those burned cities—places where the enemy has attempted to destroy what God intended for good. In those moments when external noise drowns out God's voice and you wonder, "Where is God now?"—remember, He is with you. Though He may seem silent, His presence remains constant.
The first step toward restoration is to speak directly to your circumstances. If you don't yet have a home, prophesy to the building where you'll one day live: "One day, this building will be in my name." Dream expansively about your future dwelling place. Speak to your family situation: "My children will be taught by the Lord. They will be seated around me like olive trees, flourishing like palm trees. I will be blessed to be a blessing to nations."
But you, mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home. - Ezekiel 36:8
When you prophesy to your situation, you're preparing it for your arrival. Just as God instructed the mountains to prepare fruit for His returning people, your declarations prepare your circumstances for the manifestation of His promises. The mountains must "shoot forth branches and yield fruit" in anticipation of God's people coming home to claim their inheritance.
When God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy to these physical landmarks, He was demonstrating how we should address our own mountains. Your words, when aligned with God's promises, carry creative power to transform your circumstances.
Speaking to Your Mountains
Jesus reinforced this principle in the New Testament when He taught His disciples about faith:
"Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them." - Mark 11:23
Notice the emphasis on speaking directly to the mountain not just about it. There's a fundamental difference between discussing your problems and addressing them with authority. When you speak to your mountain, you're exercising the dominion God has given you as His child.
What mountains stand before you today? Perhaps it's a financial challenge, a health diagnosis, or a seemingly impossible situation. Instead of merely talking about these obstacles, begin to address them directly with God's promises.
Speak to your situation as if it can hear you, because in the spiritual realm, it can.
Declare to your bank account: "You will overflow with abundance to bless others." Speak to your body: "You are the temple of the Holy Spirit, restored and renewed." Address that broken relationship: "You will be rebuilt stronger than before."
Favor and Multiplication
When you align your words with God's promises, you position yourself to receive His favor and multiplication.
"I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown." - Ezekiel 36:9
God looks upon you with favor! This isn't wishful thinking, it's a divine reality. The Lord is for you, not against you. He desires to multiply what you have and restore what you've lost.
"I will increase the number of people and animals living on you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before." - Ezekiel 36:11
God doesn't just promise restoration to previous levels, He promises to do "more good to you than ever before." Your future can be brighter than your past when you align your declarations with His promises.
From Desolation to Abundance
Perhaps you feel like those desolate mountains of Israel overlooked, damaged, or written off. The enemy may have attempted to corrupt your purpose and identity, leaving you feeling like a "desolate waste." But God specializes in transformation.
When you begin to speak life over your situation, declaring God's promises instead of rehearsing your problems, something supernatural happens. The very mountains that once seemed immovable begin to "produce branches and fruit."
"But you, mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home." - Ezekiel 36:8
Your words prepare the way for God's abundance. Just as the mountains were instructed to prepare for the return of God's people, your declarations prepare your circumstances for the manifestation of His promises in your life.
Conclusion
Today, I challenge you to change how you speak about your circumstances. Instead of discussing your mountains, begin addressing them directly with God's promises. Prophesy to your situation. Declare God's favor and multiplication over every area of your life.
Remember, you're not just speaking empty words into the air you're exercising the authority Christ has given you. Your words, aligned with His promises and spoken in faith, have the power to transform desolation into abundance, lack into provision, and brokenness into restoration.
Begin today. Speak to your mountains. Watch as God multiplies, restores, and does "more good to you than ever before."
Reflect on This
What specific "mountain" in your life needs to be addressed with God's promises today? How can you begin speaking directly to this situation rather than just talking about it?
How might your perspective change if you truly believed God is looking upon you with favor and desires to multiply good in your life beyond what you've experienced before?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that You have given me authority to speak to my mountains. I declare that every obstacle standing in my way must bow to Your promises. Where there has been desolation, I speak abundance. Where there has been lack, I declare multiplication. Where there has been brokenness, I proclaim restoration. I believe that You look upon me with favor and will do more good for me than ever before. My words align with Your promises, and I expect transformation in every area of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
