Man with Jesus seated in Glory
God didn't just rescue us from death, He elevated us to the highest possible position. Seated with Christ in heavenly realm.

Today, let's explore the profound truth of our spiritual position in Christ. This isn't just theological theory, it's a life-changing reality that transforms how we view ourselves, our circumstances, and our purpose. When we truly understand where we're seated, everything changes.

The Father's Extravagant Welcome

In Luke 15, we find the beautiful story of the prodigal son's return. When the wayward son finally comes home, his father doesn't merely tolerate his presence or assign him servant status. Instead, the father exclaims:

"Bring the best clothes and put them on him. Also put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And bring our best calf and kill it so that we can celebrate with plenty to eat." - Luke 15:22-23

This isn't just a nice homecoming, it's a complete restoration of identity. The robe represents righteousness, the ring symbolizes authority and sonship, and the sandals signify salvation of peace. The fattened calf wasn't prepared that day; it had been growing, waiting for this moment of celebration.

Just as the father had prepared everything in advance for his son's return, our Heavenly Father prepared Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for us. Before we ever turned toward home, the provision was already made.

From Death to Life

The father in the parable declares a profound truth about his son:

"For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." - Luke 15:24

This mirrors our own spiritual journey.

"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins." - Ephersians 2:1

We were spiritual corpses, following the ways of this world and the ruler of the kingdom of the air. We lived according to our natural cravings, rebellious and deserving of judgment.

But then something extraordinary happened. The passage continues with two of the most powerful words in Scripture:

"But God, still loved us with such great love. He is so rich in compassion and mercy." - Ephesians 2:4

When everything was dark, when we deserved judgment, when we were like dead people without hope or purpose, "but God" stepped in. He didn't wait for us to clean ourselves up or become worthy. Even when we were dead in our sins, He made us alive with Christ.

Seated in Heavenly Places

Here's where our story takes an unexpected turn. God didn't just rescue us from death, He elevated us to the highest possible position:

"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." - Ephesians 2:6

This isn't something that will happen in the future; it's our current spiritual reality. We are co-seated with Christ in heavenly places right now. This means everything is under our feet, including the enemy and all his schemes.

When you understand your position, you realize you don't need to seek blessing, you are the blessing. There's no wall between you and God. You're connected to the source of all blessing, healing, prosperity, and authority.

Carriers of Fullness

When Jesus entered Peter's empty boat, it soon became filled with fish. What was lacking became abundant. In the same way, when we enter situations with the understanding of our position in Christ, we bring fullness where there was emptiness.

"You are like Jesus in this world." - 1 John 4:17

When you enter your workplace, your family, or any situation, you bring the fullness of Christ with you. You don't have an empty boat that's sinking, you have the presence of the Creator Himself.

Conclusion

Today, embrace your true position as one seated with Christ in heavenly places. You are not defined by your past failures or current struggles. You are defined by your position in Christ, restored, authorized, and empowered. You don't just receive blessing; you are the blessing. Wherever you go, you carry the fullness of Christ.

Let us eat and celebrate! We were dead, but now we are alive in His presence.

Reflect on This

  1. How would your approach to daily challenges change if you consistently remembered that you are seated with Christ above every problem?

  2. In what specific area of your life do you need to stop seeing yourself as seeking blessing and start seeing yourself as being the blessing?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that I am co-seated with Christ in heavenly places. I declare that I am not positioned in my problems but positioned in Your presence. Every enemy is under my feet. I am not merely seeking Your blessing, I am the blessing. Wherever I go today, I carry Your fullness, turning emptiness into abundance. I was dead, but now I am alive in You. I celebrate this truth and walk in this authority today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
