Today, let's explore the power of godly desires. This isn't just about wishing for things; it's about aligning our hearts with God's vision and experiencing the manifestation of His promises in our lives. Prepare to be encouraged and empowered as we delve into Scripture and discover how our desires shape our destiny.
The Foundation of Trust
Our journey begins with a fundamental principle found in Proverbs,
"Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go." - Proverbs 3:5-6 (TPT)
This passage reminds us that our opinions don't matter—God's opinion does. The world's perspective is irrelevant compared to God's truth. The Passion Translation beautifully expresses this verse as becoming "intimate with Him in whatever you do." This intimacy isn't about book knowledge but practical, experiential knowledge of God's presence in our daily decisions.
When we trust completely in the Lord rather than relying on our own limited understanding, He can elevate us from the lowest depths to the highest heights. He can lift us from the pit and place us among royalty. He can raise us from the clay to positions of honor. Our God specializes in divine promotion when we surrender our understanding to His wisdom!
Meditation: The Pathway to Prosperity
Joshua reveals a powerful truth about meditation and success:
"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." - Joshua1:8
Notice the personal responsibility here "you will make your way prosperous." When we meditate on God's Word, focusing on His promises rather than our problems, we actively participate in creating our success. This isn't passive waiting; it's active engagement with divine truth.
Meditation involves thinking about God's promises, enjoying His Word, and knowing it will manifest in your life. It means recognizing the truth and power of Scripture, understanding it will redeem you, and acknowledging your covenant with God. God's Word is God's will for your life.
When you meditate on Scripture, you uproot negative thoughts and speak life instead of fear. You declare God's promises over your children and cancel negative circumstances in Jesus' name. This practice transforms your mind and protects it from the corruption of worldly thinking.
God: Our Divine Success Coach
God's Word serves as our manual from Emmanuel, "God with us." He functions as our success coach, training us daily for victory.
"He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze." - Psalm 18:34
Each morning, we enter the training ground, preparing for spiritual warfare against negativity, worldly schemes, and wickedness. The Bible is not a religious book—it's God's manual that gives us desires and equips us for victory. We're being trained to overcome!
Delighting in Blessing
A profound principle emerges in:
"Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4
God is the source of our desires. He plants divine dreams within us that align with His purposes. However, we must actively choose to delight in blessing. Psalms offers this sobering insight:
"He also loved cursing, and it came [back] to him; He did not delight in blessing, so it was far from him." - Psalm 109:17 (AMP)
This verse reveals a spiritual law: what we don't delight in stays away from us. If we refuse to seek blessing or choose blessing, blessing will remain distant. The amplified version says, "He delighted not in blessing"—so it remained far from him. This is a crucial principle: we must delight in blessing for blessing to draw near to us.
The Power of Choice
Deuteronomy presents us with a fundamental decision:
"I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." - Deuteronomy 30:19
God has given us the power to choose. We must actively choose life and blessing. Some people limit their desires, saying, "I'm happy with this small thing" or "That's all I want." But godly desires aren't selfish—they're expansive enough to bless others through us. When we dream big, aligning our desires with God's vision, we position ourselves for supernatural manifestation.
Many religious systems teach us to "leave everything" and abandon desires. But Scripture teaches the opposite—we should have desires! This is the law of desires: if you don't desire something, it doesn't come to you; it runs away. Desires are key to having your imagination manifest in reality.
The Promise of Manifestation
Proverbs offers this powerful assurance:
"What the wicked dread will overtake them; what the righteous desire will be granted." - Proverbs 10:24
This is the divine guarantee: the desires of the righteous will be granted! If we don't desire anything, there's nothing to be granted. But when we cultivate righteous desires, we activate God's promise of manifestation. What you desire will be manifested in your life.
The righteous are established forever, and their desires will be fulfilled. God's plan for each of us includes prosperity and good success, but we must delight in blessing so that blessing will draw near to us. We must understand that the desire of the righteous will be granted—if there is no desire, nothing will be manifested in your life.
Conclusion
God's plan for each of us includes prosperity and success. By delighting in His blessings and nurturing godly desires, we draw near to His abundance. Remember, what you desire according to God's Word will be manifested in your life. The desire of the righteous will be granted!
Reflect on This
What godly desires has the Lord placed in your heart that you need to embrace more fully?
How might your life change if you began to delight in God's blessings rather than focusing on limitations?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of righteousness that You've given me through Christ. I stand upright in Your presence, knowing that the desires You've placed in my heart will be granted. I choose to delight in Your blessings and meditate on Your promises. I declare that Your Word is prospering in my life, and my righteous desires are being manifested. Nothing can be taken away from me. I am flourishing and walking in the prosperity You've designed for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
