God Moved Into Your Body

November 07, 2026

What if someone told you that the most powerful Being in the universe decided to move into your body and make it His permanent home? You might think that sounds too extraordinary to be true. But that is exactly what the Word of God declares. Today's meditation takes that truth and unpacks it so deeply that you will never look at yourself the same way again.
Love, Obedience, and a Divine Visit
Jesus shared something stunning with His disciples about what happens when a person truly loves Him and keeps His words:
"If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. And My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." John 14:23
Did you catch that? Not "I will visit him occasionally." Not "I will be nearby." Jesus said, "We will come to him and make Our home with him." The Father and the Son, making a permanent dwelling place inside of you. That is not just a spiritual idea. That is a divine promise with your name on it.
And just before that, in verse 24, Jesus reminds us that the words He speaks are not even His own alone:
"The one who does not love Me does not keep My words. And the word which you hear is not Mine, but is the Father's who sent Me." John 14:24
Every word Jesus speaks carries the full weight and desire of the Father. So when He says the Father will come and make His home in you, that is the Father's own desire being expressed.
God is not asking you to find Him. He is saying He has already found you and moved in.
You Are the Temple
Many people spend their lives searching for God in buildings, on mountains, in rituals, or in long pilgrimages. Some walk on their knees around temples hoping to get close to His presence. But the New Testament turns all of that completely upside down. Paul asks one of the most important questions in all of scripture:
"Do you not know and understand that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" 1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know? Do you not understand? Paul is almost incredulous that believers could miss this. You are the temple. You are the inner sanctuary. You are the holy dwelling place. The Spirit of God does not visit you on special occasions. He makes His permanent home in you.
You may not own a house. You may be going through a season of uncertainty about where you will live or what your future holds. But regardless of your physical circumstances, God has made you His permanent home. You are the dwelling place of the Most High God.
Your body is not just a body. It is the holy dwelling place of the living God.
The Destroyer of Destroyers
Once you understand that your body is God's temple, the next verse takes on an entirely new level of authority:
"If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy that destroyer. For the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are." 1 Corinthians 3:17
Anything that tries to destroy you, whether it is sickness, disease, bacteria, a virus, depression, or pain, is coming against the temple of God. And God says clearly, He will destroy the destroyer. This is not wishful thinking. This is a divine covenant of protection over your body.
So when sickness tries to set up residence in your body, you have every right to declare: "Body, be healed from head to toe in Jesus name. You are the temple of the living God." Because that is exactly what you are. God Himself calls you holy. Chosen. Redeemed. Pure. Not because of what you have done but because of who lives inside of you.
Restored to the Original Design
This dwelling of God inside of humanity is not a new idea. It goes all the way back to creation. When God formed Adam and Eve, He breathed His own breath into them. They carried His life, His image, His likeness. But when sin entered, that intimate connection was broken. The Spirit was lost.
That is why Jesus came. Not simply to give us a ticket to heaven one day, though that is gloriously real. He came to restore what was lost. He came to breathe again the God kind of life into humanity. He came so that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit could once again make their home inside of people who believe.
When you accepted Jesus, something happened that religion often forgets to tell you. Heaven did not just put your name on a future guest list. Heaven came down. The Trinity moved in. Your body became the permanent dwelling place of the living God.
Accepting Jesus is not just about where you are going. It is about who is living inside of you right now.
Conclusion
You are not just a person trying to get through the day. You are the holy temple of the living God, filled with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Every sickness, every fear, every force that comes against you is coming against God's own home. And He defends His home. Walk today with that awareness. You carry something extraordinary. You carry Him.
Reflect on This
How does knowing that your body is the permanent dwelling place of God change the way you think about your health, your struggles, and your daily choices?
In what ways have you been searching for God's presence outside of yourself, and how can you begin to recognise and honour His presence within you today?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that You have made my body Your permanent dwelling place. I declare that I am Your holy temple, filled with Your Spirit. Every sickness, every pain, every infirmity that does not reflect Your image in my body must leave now in Jesus name. I receive Your healing, Your wholeness, and Your restoration. I walk today knowing that You live in me, You defend me, and You have made me holy. I am not searching for You because You have already found me and made Your home in me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Key Takeaways
When you accept Jesus, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit come and make your body their permanent dwelling place.
Your body is the holy temple of the living God, deserving of dignity, healing, and divine protection.
God defends His temple, meaning He actively destroys anything that tries to harm or destroy you.
The mission of Jesus was to restore the intimate, indwelling connection with God that was lost through sin in the garden.
