Today, let's explore how we partner with God in every spiritual battle we face. As believers, we're not meant to fight alone but to recognize that while the battle belongs to the Lord, we're called to participate in His victory.
The Indwelling Spirit
In the Old Testament, the Spirit of the Lord would come and go upon people for specific purposes. We see this in 2 Chronicles where
"the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel." - 2 Chronicles 20:14
But in the New Covenant, something remarkable happens: the Spirit of God permanently dwells within believers.
"You are not in the flesh but in the spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him." - Romans 8:9
This indwelling presence isn't just a theological concept but a transformative reality. When you accepted Jesus as your Savior, you received the Spirit of God. Place your hand on your head and acknowledge this truth: the Spirit of God lives in you.
The Power Within
The Spirit that dwells in you carries extraordinary power:
"If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you." - Romans 8:11
The same power that conquered death now resides within you. This isn't a distant power but an intimate presence that gives life to every part of your being. You carry the resurrection power of Christ wherever you go.
The Battle Is Not Yours
When facing challenges, remember the powerful declaration from 2 Chronicles:
"Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the LORD to you, 'Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's.'" - 2 Chronicles 20:15
This promise brings tremendous comfort. You don't need to face your anxieties, depression, or sickness alone. The battle belongs to the Lord. However, this doesn't mean we remain passive.
Called to Action
The passage continues with a clear instruction:
"Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the valley, east of the wilderness of Jeruel." - 2 Chronicles 20:16
Notice that God doesn't say, "Stay home while I fight for you." Instead, He says, "Go down against them." While the battle belongs to God, we're called to participate. We must face our situations with confidence, knowing God fights alongside us.
God's Fellow Workers
This partnership with God isn't unique to warfare. In everything we do as believers, we work together with God:
"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building." - 1 Corinthians 3:6-9
We are co-workers with God, part of His team. Just as Isaac had to sow seed during famine to receive God's blessing, we must take action while trusting God for the results.
Signs That Follow Believers
Jesus promised specific signs would accompany those who believe:
"These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover." - Mark 16:17-18
These aren't just historical curiosities but present realities for believers. When you lay hands on the sick, you're not acting alone but partnering with God's healing power. Your hands become instruments of divine healing because you carry God's presence.
Standing Against Opposition
As God's partner, you're called to stand against whatever opposes His purpose in your life:
"Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." - James 4:7
This isn't a suggestion but a command. You must actively resist sickness, depression, unforgiveness, and brokenness. Not in your own strength, but knowing you're partnering with God. The mind is the battleground where victory begins.
Conclusion
Today, embrace your identity as God's partner. The battle belongs to Him, but He's invited you to participate in the victory. Take your place alongside Him, knowing that you don't have to face this pain alone. Remember, He is with you and will empower you to overcome every challenge you face with Victory.
Reflect on This
In what areas of your life do you need to actively resist the enemy while trusting that God is fighting for you?
How might your approach to healing and deliverance change if you truly believed you carry the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. I acknowledge that You care for me and that I belong to You. Thank You for making me Your co-worker and for handling all my battles. I recognize that while the battle belongs to You, You've called me to stand against the problems I face. As I lay my hands upon the sick, let them be healed. Let the world see that I am a co-worker of the living God. I declare healing, goodness, mercy, and favor over my life, and I curse all depression, anxiety, and worry. Let everyone see Your freedom and glory manifested in their lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
