Today, we explore the power of standing firmly on God's promises. When we face challenges, our minds become battlegrounds where we decide whether to trust in God's word or surrender to doubt. The enemy constantly tries to put question marks where God has placed periods in our lives. In this meditation, we'll discover how to train our minds to hold fast to divine promises and inherit what is surely ours.
The Battle of Identity
When God encounters us, He always begins by declaring who we are. This pattern is consistent throughout scripture. Just as the angel appeared to Gideon saying, "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior," God speaks identity over us before He gives us assignments. Yet, like Gideon who responded with doubt—"If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened?"—we often question these divine declarations when our circumstances don't align with what God has spoken.
This same pattern appeared when Jesus was baptized. God proclaimed, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased," establishing Jesus' identity before His ministry began. But soon after, the enemy came to challenge this very declaration with, "If you are the Son of God..." The enemy always places question marks where God has placed periods. He attempts to make us doubt our God-given identity.
Never listen to the voice that puts a question mark at the end of God's promises.
Our minds must be trained to reject doubt and embrace the truth of who God says we are. The battle begins in our thoughts, where we either accept or reject our God-given identity.
Choosing Faith Over Circumstance
Consider Caleb's example from the scriptures. At forty years old, he spied out the Promised Land with Joshua and ten other men. While the majority trembled in fear at the sight of giants, Caleb and Joshua stood firm in their faith, declaring, "If God is with us, we can easily take over possessions and capture the land." Because of the unbelief of others, Caleb was forced to wander forty additional years in the wilderness, circling among foolish people until he was eighty-five years old.
When he finally entered the Promised Land at this advanced age, Caleb didn't complain or make excuses. In Joshua chapter 14, we read his powerful testimony:
"I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. I brought him back a report according to my convictions, but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly." - Joshua 14:7-8
"Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!" - Joshua 14:10
Caleb didn't use his age as an excuse to abandon God's promise. He didn't say, "I'm 85 years old now, so maybe you should forget about my inheritance. I'm just happy we finally made it to the Promised Land." Instead, he claimed what God had promised him decades earlier, saying, "The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly."
When we face obstacles, we decide whether to listen to our bodies, emotions, and circumstances, or to stand on God's promises. Faith requires action that contradicts what we see, based on what God has said. There's a reason you're alive today—your calling is still active, and you have work to do in this world.
Possessing Your Inheritance
We aren't merely waiting to go to heaven—we're called to bring heaven to earth. As Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord's Prayer, "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Our mission is to establish God's kingdom here and now, not just pack our bags and wait for heaven. That would be the easy job. Instead, God gives us a plan and a promise every time He encounters us.
Unlike Gideon who questioned God's presence because of difficult circumstances, we must be like Caleb who declared:
"Surely the land on which your feet have walked shall be your inheritance and your children's forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God." - Joshua 14:9
This should be your declaration every morning:
Surely whatever Jesus inherited on the cross shall be my inheritance.
Be adamant about claiming what Christ purchased for you. Nothing can stop you, nothing can hold you back, nothing can break you because you have the power and anointing of God. You are covered by His blood, your family is protected, and your children are taught by the Lord. Wherever you walk, you release God's anointing. As Psalm 91 promises, "A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you," because you are in God's presence, covered by the blood of Jesus.
You are protected, secure, and blessed beyond measure. You are a blessing to nations, giving freely to many. All God's promises will be fulfilled in your life because you are called to possess your possessions in Jesus' name.
Conclusion
Train your mind to stand firmly on God's promises. When doubt creeps in, declare with confidence: "Surely what Jesus purchased on the cross shall be my inheritance and the inheritance of my family and children always." This new day brings new strength, new grace, new anointing, new blessings, new openings, new miracles, and new wonders. Something new is coming your way in Jesus' name.
No matter your age or circumstances, you are called to possess your possessions in Christ Jesus. Like Caleb, be unwavering in your faith despite what others around you might believe.
Reflect on This
In what areas of your life are you allowing doubt to place question marks on God's promises? Where have you been questioning "If God is with me, why is this happening?" instead of standing firmly on His word?
How can you actively train your mind to reject doubt and embrace your God-given identity today? What specific promises do you need to declare over yourself and your family?
Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your unfailing promises. I declare that I am who You say I am—Your beloved child in whom You are well pleased. I reject every question mark the enemy tries to place on Your word. The enemy is under my feet. My mind is trained to stand on Your truth, and I walk in the fullness of all You have provided. In Jesus' name, I am already blessed beyond measure. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Key Takeaways
Your mind is a battleground—train it to accept God's promises without question marks, rejecting the enemy's attempts to make you doubt.
Like Caleb, stand firmly on God's word regardless of age or circumstances, refusing to make excuses for not possessing what God has promised.
You are called not just to go to heaven but to bring heaven to earth, establishing God's kingdom here and now through faith and action.
What Jesus purchased on the cross is surely your inheritance today—healing, blessing, protection, and prosperity belong to you.
