Have you ever sat with a medical report, a difficult situation, or a family struggle and felt like something in you was quietly giving up? Like you were fighting a battle that had already been decided against you? If that is where you are today, this message is speaking directly to you. Because the truth of what God has done in Christ is far more powerful than anything that has come against your life.
The Enemy's Plan Was Reversed
There is a pattern woven through the story of Esther that speaks powerfully to every believer. Haman, the enemy, planned a specific day of destruction for God's people. He built a gallows designed for their end. But what the enemy prepared for God's people became the very instrument of his own downfall.
What the enemy designs as your defeat, God turns into his destruction.
And the day Haman marked for mourning became a day of feasting. Esther 8:16-17 says:
"The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour. And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day." Esther 8:16-17
Every day the enemy intended as a bad day for you, God is turning into a good day. Every plan that was designed to end your family, your health, or your peace is being reversed in Jesus' name.
The Cross Kills the Enmity
Ephesians 2:16 takes us deeper into what Christ accomplished:
"And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby." Ephesians 2:16
Christ did not just manage your problems. He killed the enmity. Every hostile force operating against you, every curse, every sickness, every spirit of poverty, every trap that was laid for your life, it was slain at the Cross. He brought death to what was trying to bring death to you, and He brought life to you in its place.
Christ Destroyed the One Who Had the Power of Death
Hebrews 2:14 puts it plainly:
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil." Hebrews 2:14
Jesus took on flesh and blood so He could enter into death itself and destroy the one who wielded death as a weapon. Wherever you feel the weight of death in your life, whether in your body, your circumstances, or your family, you can boldly declare: the One who destroyed death's authority has come for me. He came to give me life, to protect me, and to lift me up.
1 John 3:8 adds to this:
"For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8
He was not manifested to destroy you. He came to destroy the works of the devil. Whatever the enemy has been building against you, every scheme, every disease, every snare, Christ came specifically to dismantle it. And Matthew 10:34 reminds us that He came not just bringing peace to you but a sword against the enemy. That sword is for the works of darkness, not for you.
Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34
You Were Buried and Raised with Him
This is where the meditation reaches its most powerful point. Colossians 2:12 says:
"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead." Colossians 2:12
You were not just a spectator at the resurrection. You participated in it. Romans 6:3-5 builds on this truth:
"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection." Romans 6:3-5
If you are joined to His death, you are equally joined to His resurrection. And in the resurrection, was there sickness? Was there weakness? Was there poverty? No. Christ rose in absolute fullness of life, power, and victory. That is the life you have been joined to.
Say it aloud: my body is joined to the resurrection of Christ. My family is joined to the resurrection of Christ. My children are joined to the resurrection of Christ. Therefore no death, no curse, no poverty, no sickness can hold me.
Your Old Self Was Nailed to the Cross
Romans 6:6-7 continues:
"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin." Romans 6:6-7
Your old identity, the one tied to failure, to generational patterns, to sin and shame, was nailed to the Cross with Christ. It is finished. No generational curse has the right to claim you. No past pattern can sentence your future. You have been freed because the one who was bound by those things has died, and a new creation has taken his place.
2 Corinthians 5:17 seals this beautifully:
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
When a doctor tries to tell you that something runs in your family, you can answer with truth: my Father in heaven has no sickness, no curse, no poverty. And I carry His divine nature. The old things have passed away.
The Month of Purim Is Your Reality Today
The Jewish festival of Purim, rooted in the story of Esther, is a yearly celebration of exactly this: mourning turned to joy, weakness turned to strength, the enemy's plan turned to the people's victory. Esther 9:21-22 describes it:
"To stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly, as the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day." Esther 9:21-22
The very month that was marked for sorrow became a month of joy. Every day designed for your defeat becomes a day of victory when Christ is Lord of your life. Your sorrow is turning to joy. Your weakness is turning to strength. Your mourning is becoming a celebration.
Conclusion
You are not a victim of your past, your body, or your enemy's plans. You are a new creation, raised with Christ, joined to His resurrection, freed from sin, and covered by His blood. The works of the devil have been destroyed. The enmity has been slain. All authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus, and He has placed you in the fullness of that victory. Isaiah 66:14 says it beautifully: your heart will rejoice and your bones will flourish like green grass. God's hand is on you. His indignation is on the enemy. And that is a reality you can walk in today.
Reflect on This
When the enemy points to patterns in your history, whether illness, failure, or fear, how does the truth that your old self was crucified with Christ change the way you respond to those accusations?
Since you have been raised with Christ in the likeness of His resurrection, what areas of your life do you need to speak resurrection life over right now, trusting that what God says is more final than what you see?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that I was raised with Christ. I declare that I am not bound by the old patterns, the old sickness, the old curses, or the old failures. My old self was nailed to the Cross and a new creation has taken its place. The works of the enemy in my life, my family, and my body are destroyed. My sorrow is turning to joy, my weakness is turning to strength, and my mourning is becoming a celebration. My bones flourish like green grass because Your hand is upon me. Every plan of the enemy against me is reversed in Jesus' name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Key Takeaways
Christ destroyed the one who wielded the power of death, and His purpose in coming was specifically to demolish the works of the devil in your life.
You were not a spectator at Christ's resurrection but a participant, joined to His resurrection life, which means no sickness, poverty, or curse can claim final authority over you.
The old patterns, generational burdens, and past failures were crucified with Christ, making you a new creation freed from everything that tried to define you.
Just as the day Haman planned for Israel's destruction became their day of celebration, every attack the enemy has launched against your life is being turned into your testimony.
God's hand rests on you as His servant while His indignation falls on the enemy, making your victory not a hope but a settled reality.
