Person triumphantly stands atop a floating stone staircase, arms raised, overlooking vast, misty mountains. Sense of victory and freedom.
Success is not dependent on location, age, qualifications, or background but on your relationship with God.

Today, let's explore what true success means in God's kingdom. Many of us measure success by worldly standards, wealth, position, or achievements. But God's definition transcends these temporary markers. When we understand success through His eyes, we discover a liberating truth that transforms our perspective on every challenge we face.

Beyond Circumstances

Joseph's story in Genesis offers a powerful illustration of God-centered success. Despite being sold into slavery and later imprisoned, Scripture tells us:

"The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes." - Genesis 39:2-3

Joseph's success wasn't determined by his location or circumstances. He prospered in Egypt, a foreign land where he arrived as a slave. His success stemmed from his connection with God and his ability to see divine purpose even in difficult situations.

Redefining Success

True success isn't based on where you are, how old you are, or what qualifications you possess. Consider Abraham, who became a father at 100 years old, or David, a simple shepherd who became king. Their success wasn't defined by conventional standards but by their relationship with God.

Success is knowing God, understanding His promises, and recognizing that you are carrying His divine plan.

When you have this kind of success, other blessings naturally follow. The material manifestations we often chase are merely attributes of success, not success itself.

The Inheritance of Blessing

Some believe that God's blessings were only for biblical figures or ended with the apostolic age. This perspective contradicts Scripture. Romans clarifies that what was written about Abraham wasn't just for him:

"The words 'it was credited to him' were written not for him alone, but also for us." - Romans 4:23-24

Through Christ, we inherit Abraham's blessings. Galatians 3:14 confirms this truth:

"He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus." - Galatians 3:14

God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). These spiritual blessings manifest as physical blessings in our lives.

God's Presence: The Key to Success

What made Joseph successful? "The Lord was with Joseph." This simple statement reveals the foundation of true success. Joseph maintained his connection with God regardless of his circumstances. In the pit, in Potiphar's house, and in prison, he knew God was with him.

This knowledge kept Joseph's dreams alive. He understood that the God who gave him visions would never forsake him. This awareness preserved him from anxiety and depression, sustaining him through every trial.

God's Abundant Provision

If you had ten million dollars and two children, you might divide it equally between them. But God doesn't divide His blessings, He gives the full measure to each of His children.

God doesn't divide His blessing; He gives the best to everyone.

His desire is to bless all His children abundantly. As scripture says:

"Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." - 3 John 2

Walking in Your Success Identity

Success is your identity, your destination, your faith, and your brand, because God is with you. His vision and dream for your life remain active, guiding you through every season.

This knowledge will lift you from the pit, establish you in unfamiliar territory, and bring favor and blessing. The Lord's presence and His vision for your life guarantee your success, regardless of your current circumstances.

Conclusion

True success comes from knowing who God is and who you are in Him. It's not determined by your location, age, qualifications, or background, but by your relationship with God and your understanding of His promises. When you grasp this truth, you'll find yourself succeeding even in the most unlikely places, just as Joseph did in Egypt.

Reflect on This

  1. How might your definition of success change if you measure it by your relationship with God rather than by worldly standards?

  2. In what challenging situation do you need to remember that God is with you, just as He was with Joseph?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that You are always with me. I declare that Your presence is my success. I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. I carry Your vision and purpose, and nothing can separate me from Your love. I am not defined by my circumstances but by my relationship with You. Your favor and success overtake me today. I walk in the fullness of Abraham's blessings because of what Christ has done. In Jesus' name, Amen.
