Father gives gift to son
You are not just a recipient of God's love you are the Father's precious gift, personally given to Jesus.

There is something deeply reassuring about knowing you are not walking through this life alone. Today, we are going to sit with a truth that has the power to completely transform the way you see your circumstances, your future, and even your past. The Good Shepherd is not just watching over you from a distance. He is walking right beside you, holding your hand, and nothing in this universe has the power to pull you away from His grip.

The Shepherd Who Leaves the 99

In John chapter 10, Jesus describes Himself in one of the most tender and powerful ways imaginable. He says He is the Good Shepherd not just for those already gathered in the fold, but also for those who have wandered far from it.

"I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock and one shepherd." John 10:16

This is remarkable. Jesus is not content to leave anyone behind. He looks at the ones who are lost, the ones who seem far away, and He says, "I must bring them also." This was not a surprise either it was a promise spoken long before Jesus walked the earth. The prophet Ezekiel wrote:

"I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd." Ezekiel 34:23

Jesus fulfilled this prophecy. He came not only for the Jewish people but for every person from every background. He gathered all of us Jews and Gentiles alike under one flock, with one shepherd, under one love.

And if you think something in your life is lost beyond recovery, the parable in Luke 15 speaks directly to you:

"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.'" Luke 15:4-6

Do you see what Jesus does? He does not send a message. He does not wait for the sheep to find its own way back. He goes. He searches. He carries. And when He finds what was lost, there is celebration. Whatever you feel you have lost years, opportunities, relationships, health, hope this is your shepherd. And He is still searching, still carrying, still celebrating when things are restored.

Whatever you have lost, the Good Shepherd will bring it back in a better way, a better shape, and a better form.

Held by Two Hands

Now here is where the message becomes extraordinarily powerful. In John chapter 10, verses 27 through 29, Jesus makes a declaration that should settle every fear in your heart:

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand." My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand." John 10:27-29

Did you catch that? Read it again slowly. One verse says no one can snatch you out of Jesus' hand. The next verse says no one can snatch you out of the Father's hand. That means you are being held by two hands at the same time. Think about a young child walking between their parents one hand held by the father, one hand held by the mother, the child jumping freely in complete security. That is the picture of your life right now. One hand is held by Jesus Christ. The other hand is held by Father God. And if that were not enough, the Holy Spirit dwells within you.

You are not just protected you are held by the Father on one side and Jesus on the other.

And look at why Jesus stretched out both arms on the cross. That image itself declares His intention He wanted to hold each one of us. Two arms stretched wide to hold a world full of people. That is the depth of His love for you.

This theme repeats again and again throughout John 10. In verse 18, it says no one can take it from Him. In verse 28, no one will snatch you from His hand. In verse 29, no one is able to snatch you from the Father's hand. Three times. God is making sure you hear this. You are secure. You are held. You are His.

You Are the Father's Gift to Jesus

Now here is something that might completely shift how you see yourself today. We often say Jesus is a gift to us and He absolutely is. But in John 10:29, Jesus says something stunning: "My Father, who has given them to me as his gift." You are the gift. You, with your flaws and your failures and your uncertainties, are the precious gift that the Father chose to give to His Son.

Imagine the Father wrapping a gift for Jesus. Imagine Jesus opening that gift. Inside is you. That is how valued you are. That is how chosen you are. You were not an afterthought. You were the treasure the Father placed in the hands of Jesus.

You are not just saved you are the Father's treasured gift, placed personally into the hands of Jesus.

Conclusion

You are not walking through this day unsupported or unprotected. You have a Good Shepherd who left everything to come find you, who carries you on His shoulders when you are weary, and who holds your hand so firmly that no force in heaven, on earth, or beneath the earth can loosen that grip. You are held. You are secure. You are loved beyond measure. Step into this day knowing exactly whose hands are holding yours.

Reflect on This

  1. In what area of your life have you been feeling lost or forgotten, and how does the image of the Good Shepherd searching for that one lost sheep speak to your situation today?

  2. Knowing that both the Father and Jesus are holding your hands at the same time, what fear or anxiety can you choose to release right now?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that I am held firmly in Your hands and in the hands of Jesus. No situation, no enemy, no failure, and no past mistake has the power to remove me from Your grip. I receive the truth that I am Your treasured gift, chosen and valued before I even knew Your name. The Good Shepherd has found me, and I rest in that security today. Your hands hold my family, my health, my future, and everything I have trusted You with. I walk in that confidence now. In Jesus Name, Amen.
