There is a question that sits quietly in a lot of hearts, and most people are too afraid to say it out loud. Did God do this to me? When the loss came, when the diagnosis came, when the door closed, was He behind it? Today's reflection answers that question with clarity and with hope. God is not in the business of doing bad things to people. He is in the business of doing good. And more than that, He is an expert at taking what was designed to destroy you and turning it into the very thing that honors you.

A Riddle the Enemy Cannot Solve

Yesterday we stood in front of Samson's riddle, and it is worth carrying with us into today.

"Out of the eater came something to eat, and out of the strong came something sweet." Judges 14:14

The Philistines could not solve it in three days, and the enemy in your life cannot solve it either. He has no category for a God who reaches into the carcass of a threat and pulls out honey. That riddle is not just Samson's story. It is the pattern of how God has always worked, and once you see the pattern, you stop reading your circumstances as a verdict.

They Meant Evil, But God Meant Good

Look at Joseph. His own brothers betrayed him, deceived him, rejected him, sold him, and wanted him dead. There is no softening that. They meant every bit of it for evil. But listen to how Joseph reads his own story at the end of it:

"As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, in order to bring about this present outcome, that many people would be kept alive as they are this day." Genesis 50:20

They set out to destroy one man. Through that one man, God preserved an entire nation. The enemy was working with a short calculation, and God was working with a much longer one. The enemy plots against one life, and God uses that same life to save many.

A Table Set While They Watch

David understood this too. Notice what he writes, and notice where the table is placed.

"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil. My cup overflows." Psalm 23:5

God does not wait for the room to clear before He blesses you. He does not ask your enemies to step outside. He sets the table right in front of them, anoints your head, and lets your cup run over while they watch. And think about how David got there. The enemy sent Goliath to finish him, and God used Goliath as the platform for David's promotion. The giant that was meant to end his story became the reason the whole nation learned his name.

God Is Not the Author of Your Pain

This needs to be said plainly, because a lot of sincere believers have quietly accepted a lie. Some people think God sends the trouble first so He can look impressive when He rescues them. That is not biblical. God does not manufacture your suffering to build His resume.

"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift comes from Him. It is His goodness, not His severity, that leads us to repentance. When something bitter shows up in your life, do not assign it to His hand. Assign it to the enemy, and then watch what your Father does with it.

From Shame to Fame

Some have been taught that God brings shame first and honor later. Scripture says the opposite.

"At that time I will bring you in, even at the time when I gather you together; indeed, I will give you renown and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the Lord." Zephaniah 3:20

Read that again. Renown and praise. Restoration in front of your own eyes. That is God describing His intention toward you. And Paul settles the matter for anyone still wondering whether they qualify:

"For the Scripture says, 'Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.'" Romans 10:11

It does not matter what the enemy has said over you. It does not matter what voices you have been listening to, or what label the last season tried to hang around your neck. God is not orchestrating your shame. He is orchestrating your honor.

God does not bring shame and then honor. He takes the shame you already carry and turns it into fame for His glory.

Conclusion

The God you serve is an expert at reversals. He turned a betrayal into a nation's survival, a giant into a young man's promotion, and a threat into a testimony that is still being preached thousands of years later. He has not changed. Whatever the enemy has brought against you was not sent by your Father, and it will not have the last word. He is already at work on the good He intends to bring out of it, and when He finishes, the very thing that was meant to shame you will be the thing that carries His glory. Receive that by faith today and walk lighter.

Reflect on This

  1. Have you been quietly blaming God for something the enemy brought into your life, and how would today change the way you pray about it?

  2. Think about an attack that once felt like the end of your story. Where can you already see God working good out of it, and what does that tell you about the situation you are facing right now?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that You are good, and that every good and perfect gift in my life comes from Your hand. I declare that You are not the author of my pain but the author of my breakthrough. What the enemy meant for evil, You are turning for good. I receive the table You have set for me in the presence of my enemies, the oil on my head and the cup that overflows. My shame is becoming fame, my reproach is becoming renown, and I will not be disappointed, because my trust is in You. I believe it and I receive it now. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Key Takeaways

  • God is never the author of your suffering; every good and perfect gift comes from Him.

  • What the enemy means for evil, God intentionally repurposes for good, as He did through Joseph.

  • God blesses you in full view of your enemies rather than waiting until they are gone.

  • The giant sent to destroy you can become the platform for your promotion, just as Goliath was for David.

  • Scripture promises renown and praise, not shame, for those who put their trust in God.
