Hourglass with blue sand flowing, set against a blurred clock background. Reflects the passage of time, with a calm, reflective mood.
If it seems slow, it is not God delaying. His word has an appointed time, and it will arrive right on schedule.

Have you ever been holding onto a word from God for so long that you have started to wonder whether it is still coming? Have you ever stared at a promise that seemed to be taking forever and quietly begun to lose hope? Today, the word of God has something to say directly to that place in your heart. Every prophecy will be fulfilled. Every promise is coming. And the history of Scripture proves it beyond any shadow of doubt.

Isaiah and the Three Prophecies

The prophet Isaiah ministered for nearly seventy years. That is a lifetime of speaking the word of God, warning the people, and declaring what was coming. And during that long ministry, he gave three remarkable prophecies.

The first was that Assyria would come and capture the northern kingdom of Israel. The second was that Babylon would come and take Judah into captivity. The third was that a king named Cyrus would rise and set the captives free, and that Jerusalem would be rebuilt and the foundation of the temple would be laid once more.

"Who says of Cyrus, he is my shepherd, and he shall fulfill all my purpose, saying of Jerusalem, she shall be built, and of the temple, your foundation shall be laid." Isaiah 44:28

Think about what this means. Isaiah spoke the name of Cyrus nearly two hundred years before Cyrus was born. He prophesied about a king who did not yet exist, over a city that had not yet fallen, to a people who had not yet gone into captivity. And every single word came to pass exactly as God had declared it.

Isaiah himself only lived to see the first of those three prophecies fulfilled. He never saw Babylon take Judah. He never saw Cyrus rise. But that did not make the prophecies any less true. The word of God does not expire because the person who received it does not live to see it. It has an appointed time, and it will arrive right on schedule.

If It Seems Slow, Wait for It

Maybe you are holding onto a promise today that has not yet arrived. Maybe God spoke something over your life, over your children, over your family, and it has been years and you are still waiting. Maybe you are tempted to give up, to declare your own conclusion, to stop believing.

Do not do it. Hear what the word says:

"For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end, it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay." Habakkuk 2:3

The prophecy is not slow. God is not slow. He is not forgetful. He is not distracted. His word has an appointed time, and it will arrive. Do not turn against the promise. Do not declare your own conclusion. Align yourself with the word of God and wait with faith.

If it seems slow, it is not God delaying. It is God preparing.

If the prophecies spoken in Genesis were fulfilled, if the promises declared in Exodus came to pass, if every word Isaiah spoke was honored by heaven across generations, then the same God who fulfilled all of that is more than able to fulfill every promise He has spoken over your life.

King Cyrus and the Greater Deliverer

God raised a king named Cyrus, a man who did not even personally know God, and used him as a shepherd to bring His people out of seventy years of Babylonian captivity. God called him by name before he was born and said he is my shepherd and he shall fulfill all my purpose.

Now consider this. If God could raise a foreign king to deliver His people from physical captivity, how much more has He done through Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords? If Cyrus was called a shepherd who freed people from earthly bondage, Jesus is the Good Shepherd who came to deliver you from every form of bondage that has ever tried to hold you.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10

Every chain of sickness. Every bondage of sin. Every weight of poverty. Every deception of the enemy. Every darkness that has tried to hold you or your family. It has to break in the name of Jesus. Not because you are strong enough to break it, but because the One who shed His blood for you already has.

You Are Born of God

Here is something you need to hear today. You are not an ordinary person. You are extraordinary. You are made in the image and likeness of God. You have been bought with the most precious price in all of history, the blood of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you.

You are better equipped than Daniel in the lion's den. You are more covered than Moses standing before Pharaoh. You carry more than David going out against Goliath. Because those men had the promise of what was coming. You have the fulfillment. You have the cross. You have the resurrection. You have the Holy Spirit living within you right now.

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9

You are not the tail. You are the head. You are not the defeated. You are covered by the blood of Jesus that speaks good things over your life and over your family. No darkness can come against you. No kingdom can rise against what God has established over you.

The Cross Confirms Every Promise

How can you be absolutely sure that God will fulfill His promises to you? Look at the cross. Look at the empty tomb. Death tried to hold Jesus and could not. The grave thought it had the final word and it did not. The veil was torn. The Son of Man rose. And because He rose, every promise of God is sealed with His resurrection power.

"For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory." 2 Corinthians 1:20

The promises are not maybe. They are yes. They are amen. Through Jesus Christ, every single promise God has spoken about you, your family, your children, and your future is guaranteed. The history of the cross says so. The empty tomb says so. Heaven and earth may pass away, but His word will never fail.

God worked through the weakness of kings. He worked through the messiness of broken people. When plan after plan seemed to fail, He kept coming back with a new one, and every single time His purpose moved forward. And at the end of all of it, He gave His one and only Son to die for you. If He was willing to do that, how much more is He willing and able to fulfill every promise He has spoken over your life?

Conclusion

You are not waiting on a distant God. You are waiting with a faithful God who has already proven His word across thousands of years of human history. He fulfilled what He promised in Genesis. He fulfilled what He declared in Exodus. He fulfilled what Isaiah spoke over nations not yet born. And He will fulfill every single word He has spoken over you and your family. Wait for it. Stand on it. Do not let go of it. It will surely come. It will not delay.

Reflect on This

  1. Is there a specific promise or word from God over your life or your family that you have found difficult to keep holding onto? What would it look like to actively realign yourself with that promise today rather than drawing your own conclusion?

  2. Knowing that every prophecy Isaiah spoke was fulfilled, including ones he never personally lived to see, how does that strengthen your confidence in the promises God has spoken over your situation?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that You are a God who keeps every word You have ever spoken. I declare today that every promise You have given to me and my family is yes and amen in Jesus Christ. I refuse to give up on what You have spoken. I choose to wait with faith and not with fear. I align myself with Your word and I trust Your appointed time. Every bondage in my life must break because of what Jesus did on the cross. I am born of You, covered by Your blood, and filled with Your Spirit. Every prophecy will be fulfilled. In Jesus' name, Amen.
