We should imitate biblical examples who patiently endured and received God's promises through unwavering faith.

Today, let's explore the power of remembering our covenant with God. When we truly understand the promises He has made to us, we stand unshaken in the face of giants. Like David before Goliath, we can approach life's challenges with unwavering faith, knowing that our legitimacy as God's children grants us access to His unlimited blessings.

The Heart of a Covenant Keeper

David's victory over Goliath wasn't about his skill with a sling or his courage alone. It was about his understanding of who he was in relationship with God. David boldly declared,

"Let no man's heart fail because of him; your servant will go out and fight with this Philistine." - I Samuel 17:32

While the Israelite army trembled in fear, David remembered something crucial that they had forgotten: the covenant. He recalled God's faithfulness in past battles:

"Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God." - 1 Samuel 17:36

David's confidence wasn't self-generated bravado. It was covenant-based assurance. He knew he was legitimate, a true heir to God's promises. This understanding transformed his perception of the challenge before him.

Don't Allow Your Heart to Grow Dull

The writer of Hebrews urges us:

"We desire for each one of you to show the same diligence all the way through, so as to realize and enjoy the full assurance of hope until the end." - Hebrews 6:11

When our hearts grow dull, we forget our true identity. The Greek word for "dull" comes from a root meaning "illegitimate child." When we allow our hearts to grow dull, we're essentially saying, "I'm not eligible for God's promises. I don't have access to His blessings."

This was precisely the problem with Saul and his army. They forgot the covenant that made them legitimate heirs to God's promises. They saw themselves as ordinary soldiers facing an impossible giant rather than covenant people backed by an almighty God.

Imitating Faith-Filled Examples

Scripture encourages us to follow the examples of those who fully received what God promised through strong faith and patient endurance. Consider these powerful examples:

• Abraham received a son in his old age when it seemed medically impossible

• Esther became a queen from being an orphan.

• Daniel rose from captivity to leadership

• The Israelites transformed from slaves to a nation

• David elevated from shepherd boy to king

• Paul changed from persecutor to apostle

Each of these biblical figures understood their legitimacy in God's eyes. They didn't allow their hearts to grow dull but remained focused on God's promises.

God's Unshakable Promise

When God made His promise to Abraham, He swore by Himself since there was no one greater:

"I have no doubt I promise to bless you over and over and give you a son and multiply you without measure." - Hebrews 6:14 (Passion Translation)

This same promise extends to you today. Whatever you're facing, whatever challenges seem insurmountable, hear this prophetic word: God promises to bless you over and over. This blessing flows upon you, your children, your family, and everything you touch.

Patient Faith Sees Fulfillment

Abraham waited patiently in faith and succeeded in seeing the promise fulfilled. At an age when most would be planning their funeral, Abraham was preparing for parenthood! This demonstrates the power of maintaining covenant confidence.

While the world speaks of waves of difficulty, remember you have a blessing wave coming. God's promise to bless you repeatedly stands firm. Nothing broken, nothing missing, nothing lacking this is your inheritance as a legitimate child of God.

Conclusion

Like David, remember the covenant you have with God. Don't allow your heart to grow dull by thinking you're ineligible for His promises. You are legitimate, a true heir to every blessing He has promised. Stand firm in this knowledge, and like those faith-filled examples before you, you'll see God's promises fulfilled in your life.

I am covered by Your blood, strengthened by Your Spirit, and confident in Your faithfulness. I receive Your promises today with unwavering faith, knowing that what You have promised, You will fulfill. In Jesus' name, Amen.
