Today, let's explore what it means to build our lives on an unshakable foundation. When storms come, and they will, what keeps us standing strong? The answer lies not in our circumstances but in our foundation. Let's discover how to live with unwavering confidence regardless of what challenges we face.
The Unshakable Foundation
In Life Challenges will come, situations will change, and people may even misrepresent you for no reason. But here's the beautiful truth: regardless of what happens around you, you can boldly declare, "I am the Beloved of God. I am the righteous of God. The joy of the Lord is my strength."
When Jesus is in charge of your life, you have no reason to be sad.
In Matthew , Jesus shares a powerful illustration:
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." - Matthew 7:24-25
This scripture reveals something profound about the Christian life. It doesn't promise a problem-free existence, but rather a problem-proof one. Think about products advertised as waterproof, fireproof, or shockproof. That's what your life becomes when built on Christ, you become damage-proof!
Overcoming Guaranteed
Jesus was remarkably transparent when He said in John:
"In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." - John 16:33
Many focus only on the first part of this verse, that we will face troubles. But the second part carries the greater promise: Jesus has overcome the world, and through Him, so can we!
Most people stop at "in this world you will have tribulation" without continuing to the hope-filled promise that follows. Without that second part, we'd be left without hope. But Jesus tells us to cheer up, rise up, and not dwell in darkness because He has overcome the world, and those born of God will overcome it too.
Born to Overcome
In 1 John, we read that
"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God." - 1 John 5:1
This simple belief, that Jesus is the Christ, makes you born of God. And what comes with this new birth? The ability to overcome!
1 John makes it clear:
"For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." - 1 John 5:4-5
Notice it doesn't say only pastors, elders, or teachers overcome the world. It says everyone who believes in Jesus. That includes you!
Your Life is Weatherproof
When you're built on the Rock:
When rain comes, you're waterproof
When floods rise, you're flood-proof
When winds blow, you're wind-proof
Nothing can make you fall. Your family won't fall. Your dreams won't fall. You'll rise up and emerge victorious because your foundation is established on the Rock, Jesus Christ.
You haven't built your life on the shifting sands of your own imagination, strength, ability, or qualifications. Instead, you've wisely built upon the finished work of Jesus, the Word of God, the promises of God, and what Christ accomplished on the cross.
Standing Strong Like Joseph
Joseph's life demonstrates this principle beautifully. Even amid challenges and imprisonment, he remained joyful because his foundation was correct. He was rooted in the right place, connected to the Rock. This enabled him to be cheerful, happy, and to smile despite his circumstances. He even ensured that those around him were joyful too.
In the same way, Jesus wants you to be happy because you're under His care and leadership. Knowing you're rooted on the Rock, connected to God, and a child of God changes your thinking and helps you overcome any trouble.
Even when people betray or falsely accuse you, you can boldly declare,
"Thousands may rise against me, but I am built on the Rock. God loves me. I am His beloved child. I am highly favored, highly esteemed, and highly blessed in Jesus' name."
Conclusion
Your life in Christ doesn't guarantee absence of problems, it guarantees triumph over them. When you build your life on Jesus, the solid Rock, you become weatherproof against life's storms. The rain may fall, the floods may come, and the winds may blow, but you will stand firm because your foundation is unshakable.
Remember, everyone born of God overcomes the world. This includes you! So stand tall today, knowing that you are built on the Rock, and nothing can bring you down.
Reflect on This
In what areas of your life do you need to strengthen your foundation on Christ rather than relying on your own abilities?
How might your perspective on current challenges change if you truly believed you were "weatherproof" through Christ?
Prayer
Father, I thank You that I am built on the unshakable foundation of Jesus Christ. I declare that no matter what storms come my way, I will not fall because my life is established on the Rock. I am waterproof, flood-proof, and wind-proof through Christ who strengthens me. I am an overcomer because I believe in Jesus. Thank You that I am highly favored, highly blessed, and highly honored as Your beloved child. When challenges come, I choose to rejoice, knowing that You have already overcome the world. In Jesus' name, Amen.
